Posted - 07/14/2014 : 9:07:30 PM Former original ECHL Cyclones defenseman Jamie Kompon was recently named the head coach and general manager of the Portland Winterhawks.
Kompon has been a Chicago Blackhawks assistant coach the last two seasons after spending six seasons on the Los Angeles Kings’ staff. Before that, he spent nine years with the St. Louis Blues. Kompon won back-to-back Stanley Cups, with the Kings in 2012 and the Hawks in 2013.
Kompon appeared in 16 games with the Cyclones in 1990-91, recording seven assists with 34 penalty minutes before he was traded to Winston-Salem for future considerations which never materialized.
