Cincinnati goaltender Rob Madore was named Most Valuable Player of the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs, becoming the first player from the losing team to win the award in the ECHL's 26-year history. Madore played every second for the Cyclones in the playoffs, posting a 14-10 record with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. Madore led all goaltenders in the postseason in games played (24), wins (14), minutes played (1,493) and saves (756).
Under contract to San Antonio of the American Hockey League, Madore appeared in 32 games for the Cyclones during the regular season, posting a record of 17-12-1 with one shutout, a 2.73 goals-against average and a save percentage of .908.

Posted - 06/10/2014 : 2:11:09 PM He deserved the MVP and Aces deserved the cup. They worked really well as a unit especially defensively and were the superior team. Hate to admit I really enjoyed watching them play. We had no answer to their forechecking all over the ice. Dominance was shown by being outshot in all six games by a combined 230-150 shots or 53% more shots. Shows the role Madore played in keeping the series even close.
Seems like we gave up a hell of a lot of goals throughout the playoffs in the last five minutes of the the third period but now is not the time

Posted - 06/10/2014 : 09:52:18 AM Indeed a silver lining, if there is one.... Madore carried us to two wins of the cup.... the real thing might be on a flight bound for Anchorage right now, but Madore brought us a championship effort! |
