Posted - 12/07/2014 : 12:00:45 PM I agree with all in this thread. Tired of putting up with the petty barbs directed not only to me but to others as well. And I am not referring to Donnie Hockey - it seems to me that his jabs are in the spirit of fun. I suppose that if you guys are willing to post again, I will give it a try also.
MODERATOR - note that if you think my posts demean this blog just let me know and I will stop posting.
Anyway, I am not worried about the Clones yet. To me, they seem to be 'in' all the games I have seen - even the losses. I agree that something seems to be keeping us from winning our share of close games, but I am just not knowledgeable enough to know what the problem is. With a new coaching staff and the usual bevy of new players, I am hoping that this team will put together a strong run in the second half of the season. The BAD that I see is the lack of success in scoring shootouts. Yikes!! The GOOD is that I think this team plays much more physical that teams in the past. Lots of nice checking and disruption of the opposing offense. Even though I have seen just two wins compared to five losses, I still feel like I have gotten my money's worth by watching really good games. Finally, I am aware that a frequent linesman we have, number 57, is a local kid in his first year of officiating in the ECHL. He is enthusiastic about his job and seems to be doing a fine job. |

Posted - 12/04/2014 : 5:26:18 PM Hey Jevers, how about moving what dbc and tamg4393 said to it's own thread, "early season observations" perhaps. Maybe that will get some commenting going and hopefully people will keep it on the up and up. |

Posted - 12/04/2014 : 5:04:06 PM I agree. From what I have observed there is something wrong with this team. I'm not sure if it's a lack of chemistry, coaching, it's a mystery to me. You are correct on the screening of our goalie, and no effort to get them out of there. On the flip side, we seem to be the only team that doe's not screen there goalie, thus the opposing team plants one maybe two defenders in front of there goalie shutting down the shooting lanes. As for posting comments. I will continue posting, but if this turns into a two year old infantile rants, I'm gone. |

Posted - 12/04/2014 : 2:36:46 PM Lets try to get this thing going again.
Some observations for comments to try and elicit some posts:
Close games: Except for the early blow out against K-Zoo, every loss except one has been by one goal backing out empty net goals. Five have been 4-3 games and the other a 5-4. Three goals seems to be our limit. Lots of close but no cigar. Frustrating to fans but I am sure even more so to the team.
OT Losses: 0-3 in shoot outs. we are 3 out of 21 in shoot out attempts and two of those came in extra attempts in the 13 round Toledo loss. That means we have one goal in three shoot out losses during the normal 5 rounds. Hard to believe. Thought we looked awful last night with no originality in our attempts
Blue Line Goals: Is it me or do an inordinate number of opponent goals seem to be coming from the blue line? Many are screened and we seem to pay no attention to moving people out from screening positions in front of the net Madore looks much more effective scrambling close in where his acrobatics come into play than he does from the point where his lack of size leaves a lot of the goal open.
Early Goals: we seem to give up an inordinate amount of goals in the first minute of play:
The dynamic duo: Last nights game's tying goal had to be at least the 4th and possibly the 5th goal direct from a face off in the left circle with Frosse winning the face off cleanly to Shalla who buries it. Can't ever remember that many goals on a face-off play for a whole year let alone 16 games.
Ghosts from the past: Pelech was just the latest ex Cyclone to come back to haunt us starting with Ftorek a few years ago.
Comments? agreements? disagreements?

Posted - 12/04/2014 : 11:11:09 AM You know what they say about a few bad apples...
There's nothing wrong with debate and discourse, heck, the different points of view are what make it fun. I'm as opinionated as they come and I'd like to think I conduct myself with relative civility but when a good discussion turns into petty squabbling and personal attacks it's not longer enjoyable. |

Posted - 12/04/2014 : 09:37:59 AM I'm with you Bags. I received a sarcastic e mail because I criticized someone on here who does nothing but spew degrading comments to others who don't agree with their views. It just ain't worth it. |

Posted - 12/02/2014 : 8:28:45 PM As much as I appreciate the job Jim has done with this great web-site, I'm tired of being attacked and reading the hatred towards some older players and coaches over and over. I know I can be a horse's butt at times but a simple request of stop posting or I don't agree on a topic goes much farther than personal family attacks. Thanks for bringing up the topic. |
