Okay folks, this year has been a nightmare trying to get to games
and yes that's more an excuse than probably facts. First let talk about
the game last night. Only being the third game all year, my knowledge
of the team is limited. 1st period last night I saw a team in chaos on
defense with Quad City passing freely in their zone and making any
goalie's life a nightmare.That said, at least one of those three goals
should have been stopped. Starting in the 2nd period, a very different
Cyclones team came on the ice. Defense stepped up big and Quad City had
to work for every foot of ice for the remainder of the game. Final score
of 3-2 was a loss-but most people after that first period would have
guessed more like 6-1 I bet.
As for Pucks and Pup, was surprised on the dogs in the stands. Honestly,
my wife and I only saw a couple of dogs and we thought they weren't in
the arena. I was shocked between 2nd and 3rd periods walking around the
arena and saw them down in the zamboni end all over the place  !
Wish the house camera crew would have made an effort to come down that
end and gave some footage time for the crowd."wrong Winner" joke has
run it's course. Did we have to use it for the dog race ?
Big surprise of the night was security. Was this the first night for
it? Caught me off guard and had to return to the car for my pocket
knife. Wish they would have had signs up on the east side to let
people know before they walked to the west side to buy tickets. Fun
night and don't mind the loss since the team did come back with a
better 2nd and 3rd period effort.

Thanks for the info-my limited view of the team wasn't sure of how
they've been playing. One thing never changes for years now-power
play usually means no shots on goal ! |

The slow start could be attributed the way the Clones handled QC the night before. While Wysopal's short handed goal was a thing of luck which makes the scoreline look more competitive, the Cyclones dominated that game. QC came out in the 1st period in the 2nd game with quite a push, and indeed it rattled the Clones. While the the Boys came out in the 2nd with a push back of their own and eventually make a game of it, showing their resilience, it's been a problem all season and is the reason I think the Team will struggle in the post season should they hang on to get there. |
