USBA officials have announced plans to tear down the area and rebuilt a new one in the same location. None of the stories mention how this impacts both the short and long-term future of the Cyclones.

"U.S. Bank Arena needs to add two locker rooms and greatly expand media space below the seating area if it’s going to host the first- and second-round games, Ray Harris, COO of Nederlander Entertainment, which operates and is majority owner of the arena, told me on Wednesday."

While a massive overhaul would be nice for the city and Nederlander/AEG it's not required to host the NCAA Tournament. What the major media is reporting is the posturing going back forth between Nederlander/AEG and the City. I'll be shocked if a tear down/rebuild occurs without major concessions from the city.

Biggest problem with Cincinnati hosting big events is not USBA but
instead PBS ! By not putting a dome on the football stadium, Super
Bowl, NCAA final 4, political conventions and even big conventions
bypass Cincinnati. Granted a new arena with boxes in the middle is
a better unit, but you still won't get the big ticket events that
domed stadiums provide.

Cincinnati is losing out on opportunities to host major events because the venue is outdated. It needs to be torn town and a new modern venue built in its place so the city isn't losing events to other cities such as the chance to host NCAA tournament games.

Okay here is one version of the story:
http://www.fox19.com/story/35194010/us-bank-arena-may-be-rebuilt-for-ncaa-bid
Here is another:
http://www.wfsb.com/story/35182257/officials-ncaa-bid-contingent-on-us-bank-arena-being-renovated-by-2022-march-madness-games
I find it hard to believe all this done for just an NCAA tournament
chance. I could believe it if the arena will be going after an NBA/NHL
team or at least an upgrade to the AHL level. Anyway thanks for the info

Now what are your thoughts?

Donnie,
Without a link to a valid story on this topic, I have to treat this
as just another rumor. I first looked at your post date to see if it
was April 1st ! Only reason I could see some kind of action like that
would be a pro team coming in and premium boxes in a better location
inside would be desired.
