It's a good thought but let's keep it to ourselves. If anybody made the trip to Toledo, my hat is off to you. These last two nights have been a killer not having a radio station to tune in the game. Maybe the Enquirer has given us the perfect rally call-the Energizer Bunny because "THEY KEEP GOING AND GOING". I know the history says keep the hot goaltender in,but here is some pros to giving Hamerlik the start on Tuesday. First, you give Hewitt the rest and he will be better ready for the last two games if needed. Second, you give Toledo a new look that they haven't been watching.Third, in case of a later injury,Hamerlik will have already been in a playoff game (remember the Pokey injury in the year we had the team). Finally,Boston may look well on giving their prospect the playoff chance. We need all the good will by NHL teams we can get. |

Bags,
definitely agreed with giving our hats off to the fans who made the trip. i wish i could have gone, but unfortunately i had to work early saturday and sunday morning. although, i did catch the game on sportsjuice.com like always for the road games.
i think we should keep Hewitt in goal. i see your point Bags, but i just feel the 2 game lead over a team like Toledo isn't much. very dangerous team that could come back. i say we send them to the off-season golf course as early as we can by keeping the hot goaltender in net. when you got a big opponent down on the ground DON'T LET THEM UP! at least, thats how i see it. Hewitt started 57 games last year for Mobile so i'm sure fatigue will not go into play due to him only being in net the past couple months coming back from his injury. he looks real good out there for just having surgery!
but, whoever is in goal the full support is behind 'em. lets cheer these boys on for tuesday and try to send these Brabham Cup champs home!!! go cyclones!

Jung says what I'm thinking. You don't want to give this Toledo squad any hint that they can come back in this series. Hewie's doing a good job right now. You never, never change the hot goalie during playoffs.
I say the 'clones come out full force, light up Teskey & the board, and send the Storm back to Toledo for some golf. |

| good points bags, but i gotta agree with everyone else. stick with the hot goalie. this is no time to let up. if we get the sweep, then hewitt gets a breather anyway. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. |

Thanks for seeing my point. I just fear that each round is going to get tougher to rest Hewitt and now might be a good chance. He may have played the games last year, but he also wasn't coming off a groin injury like this year. The other advantage of playing Hamerlik tomorrow is there is no pressure to leave him in if he does good based on Greg's play. The team can go back to Hewitt and no one can complain about the move. I just hope the team stays under control knowing the physical way Toledo can play. |

| The Atlantic City-Greensboro series is still 1-1 and probably will take a while. You play Hewitt, get the sweep, and give him at least until the weekend to rest. Benching him would be taking the foot off Toledo's throats and we can't afford to do that, even if it is a win one out of the next three situation. The other series is guaranteed four and possibly five, we can't look that far ahead until we win this series first. |

I can go along with what you say with one change- the term benching. I think of benching as being pulled due to failure. I don't think you meant it that way and I sure don't mean that the goalies should alternate. I just would like to see a backup goalie ready to go in and knowing the coaches and players have faith if he was needed. This game could be his chance to get in and show he is ready and Hewitt would be told he will start the next games no matter what.

A backup goalie should be just that, a backup. Benching or resting a hot goalie during playoffs could just throw off the rhythm for the whole squad and, possibly, the whole series.
Keep Hewitt in net. If they get the win tonight, he'll get the rest you want. |
