Announcing the ability to NOW use your CELL PHONE to interact with the Online Chat!! Yes, you read correctly! If you're away from your computer when the Cyclones are playing (or anytime really!) there is no need to miss out on the Online Chat! Now you can monitor AND POST messages to the Online Chat from your Cell Phone via Text Messaging.

Here is what you need to do FIRST to utilize this **NEW** Feature...

1) You MUST have a Message Board account.
2) You have to go into Online Chat and click on "EDIT PROFILE" (right above the chat window)
3) Add your Cell Phone Number to your account.
4) Check the "disclaimer" box that states you understand your wireless carrier's standard Text Messaging charges apply.

Once you've done these steps, you're all ready to chat away on your Cell Phone!

OK... Here are the details on HOW TO USE YOUR CELL PHONE TO INTERACT WITH ONLINE CHAT:

1) TO READ CHAT MESSAGES:

You will need Web Access on your Cell Phone.

Go to the following URL using your Cell Phone: http://MobileChat.Section60.com

This will display the Messages from the "Concourse" Chat Room in DESENDING order (NEWEST message displayed at the TOP).

2) TO POST FROM YOUR CELL PHONE:

Text a message TO: 41411

In the Message BODY, type: SEC60CHATPOST message

For example: SEC60CHATPOST Hey, how about those Cyclones!

3) TO SEE WHAT USERS ARE ONLINE:

Text a message TO: 41411

In the Message BODY, type: SEC60CHATUSERS

This will send back the Total Number Users AND a list of names of Users currently Chatting via the Website.

In the Message BODY, type: SEC60CHATUSERS username

This will send back if the "username" is currently Chatting via the Website.

NOTE: There is not a way to show who is monitoring the Online Chat from a Cell Phone!

Enjoy!

I signed up and everything was going well, however my cell phone tells me it's unable to send a message to the number "41411". Anyone else have this or know how I could fix the problem?

Service available on the following wireless networks: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, Virgin & Alltel.

Is your wireless carrier one of the above?

I don't know if this would help or not, but perhaps if all you Cincinnati Bell Wireless customers contacted CBW and complain you can't text to "41411". The "41411" number is owned by http://www.textmarks.com They allow people to create their own "TextMarks" to provide text SMS services to people.

I've contacted TextMark about adding Cincinnati Bell Wireless to their supported wireless providers, and was told that it wasn't them, but the GATEWAY they use. They claim they would ask their "GATEWAY" provider about it.

So I'm not sure if CBW can do anything or not... but it wouldn't hurt to contact them and inquire about not being able to utilize the "41411" SMS service.

Ok... I decided to make a couple changes to the New Cell Phone feature... This has been updated in the main Post above... Now, to monitor messages from the "Concourse" Chat Room, you will need to point your Cell Phones' web browser to: http://MobileChat.Section60.com

Before I was sending a Text Message for EACH message posted.... This got VERY Overwhelming, VERY QUICKLY!... SO I think this new method of Reading the Chat Messages via your Cell Phone will be a lot better.

I can't use it anyway, because I'm with Cinci Bell as well, but the only problem with the web browser option is that's going to cost people a lot of money that don't have the internet feature on their bill already. But, those people should be aware of that. As of the other day, the regular chat is now working for me on my laptop :)

Wow... glad to hear Chat is now working for you. (Not sure what I did, if anything, to fix it)

Yeah... I know that by using the web on the phone would perhaps leave out some people. BUT, I think it is the better solution rather then having EVERY chat message be sent to your Cell. The unfortunate thing is, your LIMITED on the number of characters to display on Text Msging.. So there isn't a good way of displaying LOTS of messages at once per Text Msg.

If someone has another idea on how to monitor the chat via Text Msging, please let me know.

But for now at least, if you have Web access on your phone, you can go to that URL to monitor the chat. (You'll need to RELOAD to get most current messages!) I tried to keep the page simple and not very big so that it would load quickly.
