Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the Club has recalled forwards Matt D’Agostini and Greg Stewart from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. This is each player’s first recall to the NHL and they will join the Canadiens at practice tomorrow morning at the Bell Centre
Stewart, 21, leads the Bulldogs with 137 penalty minutes and has registered 10 goals, seven assists, and 17 points in 69 games in his rookie campaign during the 2007-2008 AHL season. The native of Kitchener, Ontario, played in 62 games in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones last season, posting 23 points (8-15-23) and 126 penalty minutes.

Absolutely outstanding news. One Cyclone rookie to the NHL in less than 2 years.
I believe he was a 9th round draft pick. Very few 9th rounders ever get to the NHL. To do so in less than 2 years is quite an accomplishment. I hope he gets a chance to show off his patented "s$$$-eating grin" which drives opponents nuts!

| Congratulations Greg!! He was one of our favorite players. He played smart and tough on the ice. Off the ice he was quite a character also. Good guy and I'm glad to see him succeed. Anybody have some funny Stewart stories to share? |

| Stewart's the one who kicked Trembley's ass last year and prompted me to run to the penalty box and ride Trembley. Everyone knows that game....the one I was tossed out of!! |

| Nice Job Stewart!! I think he has an excellent shot in the NHL. Good overall player that can enforce when needed. He's definately one of the good guys and I wish him the best. It's easy to root for a guy like Stewie. |
