If they had a brain in their head,the plan should be to move the Bummers into
the new facility to get the loyal hockey fans there and then "move up" down the
road if everything is going well.Here in Cincinnati we can write a book on how
to destroy a hockey franchise with bad decisions.Both the Clones and the Ducks
as well as The Gardens and U S Bank Arena have made moves that cost their teams
fans. For the sake of Dayton,stick with the ECHL like us for now and build the fan
base to AT LEAST 4500(real bodies) average before thinking AHL. |

| I would for sure make a 45 minute trip for some AHL hockey when the Cyclones aren't in town, but I would very much miss that EXCITING trip to the Bummers games when our team plays them.. I'm a big fan of the close roadtrips for "away games." |

That would give them 4 arenas in the Dayton area that could theoretically host a professional hockey game.
Yes, I'm counting Hobart.
As someone who spent some time up there, this just strikes me as a very bad idea.
edit - Looking at the Austin Pike plans, I completely forgot that this is the south side of the city. It looks like they'll be close to South Metro Arena/Sportstown/STIC/Whatever it is today. In addition, I don't see where there's any room in that area to build an arena with necessary parking, unless they dig up the airport. There's a lot of new residential build-up in that area as well, so you can expect some hefty opposition to this.
There's no way this is going to happen. Sorry. |

The Bummers 2000 actual attendance average (paid even lower), the state of the Dayton economy and common sense will let this idea die in the "feasibility study" phase.
I look for an IHL team in Hara after the Bummers pack it in. |

| If they would ever get an AHL team...I say good for them!!! I would be glad to visit the new team when the Cyclones were not playing. It would certainly give Cincinnati another chance to get an AHL team also...I they think they can support an ECHL and AHL team...well I say good luck Dayton!!!(you'll need it) |
