Taylor's logo probably will have to be replaced for game 6. Perhaps he'll be unable to play due to 'deep stomach bruising'. |

I think we controlled last night's game but found no way to get quality shots off. I'm not sure those outside shots are going to work. I say Weber should put it all on the line and just crash the **** out of the net because Reading seemed to be camping everyone in the slot and around Taylor.
Ahh, the frustration!!!
Bring it home to us on Monday fellas!

1. just like the players, there are reason that the officials are working echl games and not ahl, or nhl games. these reasons include, but are not limited to poor positioning, inability to skate, being blind and most off being inconsistant. that being said they are also trying to officiate an nhl rulebook with 1 ref vs the 2 that the nhl uses.
that being said, the nygel was very inconsistant last night. he went from calling everything in the first, to calling nothing in the next 35 minutes. it's the players responsibility to push the rules as far as they can. the refs then set a line as to what they are going to allow. by the book tj definitely interfered with the reading player. however, on every ensuing face off for the previous 35 minutes players were doing exactly the same thing with nothing being called. i'm sure as far as he's concerned, tj felt that nygel had set the precedent that his actions where ok. it's ashame that nygel decided to remove the whistle from his ass at that particular moment. but that inconsistancy is why he refs at this level and not in a higher level. it is frustrating but it is something the guys have to deal with.
2. the cyclones dominated game 5 in every way except for on the score board unfortunately. taylor did stop a lot of shots, but as someone said earlier, they weren't the highest quality shots. the guys did a great job of getting traffic in front and getting the initial shot through. i can't remember a night when every rebound seemed to bounce to thw wrong side of the guy in front, or skip and bounce over the stick as it was about to be buried in the back of the net. several times this season and it's gone the other way and we put up 8 goals. it's unfortunate that we got the bad bounces in game 5, but that's what happens sometimes.
3. for the first time in the series, the guys played like the regular season cyclones in consecutive games. after the game it looked like they were visably upset that reading stole this game from them. i expect to see the guys come out relaxed and fired up on saturday. there is no way that there can be a second game in a row where the guys can't get a bounce. if reading decides to sit back and play the "wait for the mistake and counter attack" type of game like they did on thursday, they will mostly likey find themselves in a desperate situation early. |

I agree with your assessment and hope you are correct in your projection. While I disagree that the Cyclones are playing like they did in the regular season of offense, the defense has been very credible the last 2 games. Odd man rushes allowed were minimal and the forwards did a good job of backchecking. Niether Schmidt nor Gleed were caught up ice like they had been.
The Royals have completely neutralized Desharnais. Part of it is his fault, though. He has ZERO shots on goal the last 4 games. His play is entirely predictable. I think the team looks very slow on offense in general and the pp in particular. The penetration on the pp is non-existent. The forwards are always in the corners or behind the net and are moving at a glacial pace. The puck movement is dreadful. Had this team been playing anything near what they did in the regular season, you could've bet your last dollar that they'd score at least once in 10 pp chances with 2 of these being 5 on 3's.
While the Cyclones have improved since Monday's disaster (how couldn't they?), the boys have to raise their level of play by several notches to win this series. This offensive slump had best end by 7:05pm Saturday or it'll be a very disappointing early exit from the post season.
I hope to be griping about parking prices sometime around 7pm Monday.

| For those who are stuck in Cincy Sat night (like me as I have to work at 6am Sunday morning) do you know of any bar that has video on the game tomorrow night??....or maybe know a guy who has a setup which projects the B2live video broadcast up on a wide tv screen? Just curious. I guess it will just be me and my apple laptop and liquid refreshments. Watching the Columbia and Stingrays game right now..the quality isnt too shabby. If you can help me out, email me at cincybg@fuse.net or leave voicemail 602 4862 (513) This has been a rollercoaster week for me..after monday's game I was depressed big time for 2 days..then on manic high after Wed's game...now still in a funk but getting better ref last night's game. GO CYCLONES!! thank u very much. bob george |
