Nederlander has purchased the Cyclones. More details to be announced next week. Gregg, our wonderful announcer is gone. As is Paul Lawless, Pat. P. and Malcolm. I am upset about Gregg and wish him nothing but the best because he certainly deserves it! |

The big question is:
Is this good news or bad news for the fans? |

From the PR (as printed at http://www.cycloneshockey.com/FullStory.cfm?ContentID=422):
"The Cincinnati Cyclones are an asset to U.S. Bank Arena and the city of Cincinnati. We look forward to a successful Cyclones season on and off the ice," says Ray Harris, CFO of Nederlander.
“We’re going back to the Cyclones roots, with the fans as the first priority," says Matt Dunne, General Manager of U.S. Bank Arena. "The fans have always been the strength of the team."
Stay tuned. |

I think it's excellent news for the Cyclones hockey fans. I think lots of things will be much better.
Good luck to Gregg DeVitto.....it will not be the same without him. He was great but couldn't do the job he would have liked last season. I liked him most because he was an honest, "tell it like it is" person and we needed more of that. Keep in touch, Gregg! Hope you get an NHL job because you really deserve it. |

What great news!! Hope the new owners live up to their word. Sorry to see Greg DeVitto gone. He was a good play by play person and a great person to know. Good luck Greg on whatever endeavor you follow. Will miss you. Sorry Neville...you and your "sources" blew it again!! Am anxious now to see what ticket prices and promotions will be forthcoming as well as who the new staff will be. GO CYCLONES....next year we get the Cup! |

Isn't this the same Nederlander group that helped Doug Kirchofer buy the arena, spend the money to rehab it, them put him in a position of having to buy their shares when they wanted out? If so, where was their "devotion" to the fans then. If there is a Cyclones team next year, I'll be there. If they offer the same (or less) season ticket packages, I may finally buy a season pass for myself and buy a ticket for when my wife can make it. If the ECHL is demanding $9 or higher tickets, it may be time to start writing to them. Double A hockey should have $6 seats available and promotions of some kind should go on at least half the games.I loved the great play last year by the team, but I also like the promotions. |

Well at least we know we will have another season of Cyclones Hockey!
But I agree with 'bags' >>>"Isn't this the same Nederlander group that helped Doug Kirchofer buy the arena, spend the money to rehab it, then put him in a position of having to buy their shares when they wanted out? If so,where was their "devotion" to the fans then. " This raises some questions of what caused this change of mind???????????
Time will tell to see if they will hold to this new promiss! The return of promotions and other 'lures' to bring back the casual fans would be a begining! The biggest job they have ahead of them is promoting the team. (And the most difficult when you consider the media in this town!!) Ticket prices and Season Ticket pkgs. need to be looked at as well.
Will miss Greg as well...........as has been said here, he was always a tell it like it is announcer. He managed to keep us all on the edge of our seats when listening to the games. |

Good news for Cyclones fans indeed...expect for DeVitto..he will be missed. I had a feeling something might happen like this back when the schedule came out. For a arena who didnt want the Cyclones in the building, giving them so many prime weekend games though the year. Yeah we still have a good amount of Wednesday games but we have what..around 24 games on the weekends.
Yeah I can see Neville complaining now all the people at the Cyclones games were there because of free tickets.
Go Cyclones....

Hey Clawd, for the job you did in the playoffs you deserve some games. How about both you and Twister on the weekends and you take the Wednesday games yourself. We could call them Clawd night and we all dress as crazy as possible for the games with prizes to the best. |
