Well that didn't go as planned.
Its not often that someone shuts us out and LV did play very well. Our defense let in one goal. Big deal. Lalande had the game of his life and we didn't catch the breaks. I still say Cyclones in 6.
I must add that LV looked much more disciplined and avoided the stupid penalities. What was called was pretty obvious. Our PP was about six inches off all night. |

| No capitalizations of chances, referees messing us over, depressing offensive effort.... Las Vegas only made things interesting... but we did not deserve being one upped like that! |

| We played a good game. The effort was there and we were sharp. Unfortunately, so was Vegas. That was the Vegas I expected in this series. We can beat them, it just won't be a walk in the park. They played us close and got the lucky bounce tonight. This is gonna be a good series. I was disappointed in the result, but it was a great game. There were a few bogus calls (or non calls), but that didn't determine the result. On a minor note, I should've caught my third game puck, but looked away at an inopportune moment, and it bounced off my leg. GRRRR!! |

Not much you can say, not many penalties were called and just like the two teams look on paper (which is just about dead even) it translated onto the ice. The thing I keep telling myself and everybody is, we had a game against Reading just like this where Danny Taylor played a great game and we lost 1-0 ... and came back to win the series.
No big deal, just gotta move on. Go Clones! |

One of the most evenly matched games I have seen throughout the playoffs. Team wise that it!
The ref for tonights game was VERY lucky that no player from either side was injured! I am all for 'letting them play', but don't make calls that are myopic (sp?) in nature. What gets called on one side of the ledger, should be called the other way!
And can anyone explain why a number of face offs were not where they normally would of been place for off side calls?? I was soooooooooo confused tonight during several of the face offs. I can not understand why there were several face offs that went all the way back to the circles to the left/right of the goalie. Can someone explain??? |

| All game long there were announcements saying that if you throw something on the ice, you will be prosecuted. It was also shown on the scoreboard. As the game ended the jackass in front of my wife lobs a bottle to the ice, causing the numb-nut three seats down to do the same thing. Security was on the scene asap and took the morons out. Later it was revealed to me that they were given a warning (the jackass was also one of the ones from saturay night who did this too). If the arena is going to make these announcements they should do what they said they were going to do. This just sends a message to idiots everywhere that this is acceptable behavior. Sorry for the rant but that just gets my skivvies in a bunch. |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

They deemed the offsides to be "Intentional Off Sides". When you force an offsides call on purpose or by firing a shot on the goalie while offsides it will be deemed intensional. On such a call the faceoff is taken all the way into your defensive zone vs. neutral ice. The first one I noticed they called was totally bogus. Our guy (forget who it was) just jumped out of the box and they sent up a home run pass. I'm sorry, that is far from intentional offsides, that is merely bad timing and the faceoff should have been at the location where the pass originated. That may have been high in our defensive zone but not all the way down to the dot. I noticed another on called but didn't see what transpired to call it that way. A player may have played it in the offensive zone instead of exiting the zone without touching it.
I did notice at least one instance where they called LV for it and was satisified with the call. They had a guy deep, just in front of the net with no intention of leaving the zone even though the puck was way out of the zone. The LV shot the puck in on net while he was still there thus bringing the FO deep into the LV zone.
On a side note, I cannot understand why Dejiardins getting shecked down to the ice behind his net did not result in a penalty. That was BS. Weber should have told the boys to run Lalande behinf the net after that since the ref didctated the tone. On the GT intereference call we got at the end I couldn't tell if we got shoved into the golaie or went there on our own accord. If the latter, that was the right call. If the former, he totally blew it. Bottom line though, we need to run him behind the net since the ref decided that is fair game. You can never run him in the crease since that is his sacred ground.
The boys need to figure out how to score against them 5 on 5. Most of our goals last night were on the powerplay. I don't think we can count on getting that many poer plays the rest of the series. We figure out how to score on them 5 on 5 and we'll be bringing home the last of the hardware. We don't figure that out and we'll have a majorily burst bubble. |

Agreed on all counts.
Both teams were terriffic in their backchecking and goaltending. The LV forecheck had us on our heels all night. We had a great deal of difficulty moving the puck out of our zone. I doubt that change is in order yet, but Weber could insert either Perkins or McElroy (if he is medically cleared and able) for game 4 if the problem occurs in game 3. It would be a tough call for the coach because all the d-men performed very well.
I thought that we had many more chances to score in the 3rd period than LV. Latendresse and Syroczynski both had point blank chances and couldn't convert.
Speaking of Syro....He is a ball and chain around Desharnais. Weber needs to either subsitute Maki for him (my preference) or at least keep him off of DD's line. Syro has all of 3 assists in his last 11 games. He's huge baggage right now. Beauregard or Russell all the time with DD & JM sounds about right to me.
Weber kept juggling the lines and couldn't come up with effective combos. I don't think it was his best effort behind the bench. But, even coaches have off nights.
I thought that we'd win in 6. I'm staying with that. But, if they win in 7, I won't be too mad at them

Thanks Fritolay..........that does explain some. :-) knew someone could explain.
"On the GT intereference call we got at the end I couldn't tell if we got shoved into the golaie or went there on our own accord." From our (groups') vantage it looked very much like he got shoved into the LV goalie. with the 'scrum' going on and all the pushing and shoving going on.......lucky that no one got hurt. |

Officiating wasn't horrible last night. Both teams got away with quite a bit that should have been called but the linesmen did a fairly decent job of keeping the rough stuff from controlling the game. However, Ceddy getting run definitely should have been called. As for our GT penalty, I couldn't tell if he was pushed or not although in my mind if you don't call it at one end, you shouldn't call it at the other.
And to add to FritoLay's excellent response to BannerLady, I want to add that faceoffs in the offensive or defensive ends are always in the circles regardless of whether the puck was just inside the blue line or deep in the corner. Under the old rules, if the puck was above the circles, the faceoff would be the puck was froze (adjusting away from the boards when necessary) but the ECHL changed the rule a few years ago. |

that first call when matt mcdonald came out of the box was actually the return of an archaic rule, the 2 line pass. the 2 line pass rule should has virtually been eliminated by the "removal" of the red line, however, if the puck gets passed from inside the the defensive zone and next gets gets played inside the offensive zone it's a 2 line pass and the face off goes back to the defensive end.

A comment from a Las Vegas fan on a news article about Game 2:
"I agree, An intentional plowing of Lalande should've resulted in much more than a 2 minute minor. That was an intent to injury an the echl is a joke when it comes to realizing these things. Cincy and their fans are a bunch of sore losers and that will be the death of them. The puck stops in Vegas!"
Now, I know everyone wants to support their own team, but getting cranky about Lalande getting a hit in Game 2 and only getting a 2 minute minor, after Ceddy got creamed in Game 1 with no call whatsoever is just ignorant. The Las Vegas fans that I talked to at the game on Sunday were all very friendly and nice. I hope the ones out there are nice to us as well. But looking at the comments they left about us after this weekend, who knows...
"the article doesn't mention what thugs the Cincy players and fans are. The Vegas goalie was absolutely mugged by the cincy players in the final minutes of the game, then the Vegas players were pelted with trash as they left the ice after the game."
"The Cyclones coach is a bad sport, too. Here's what he said about the Wrangler's game winning goal;
'They took a shot. It hit one of our guys and unfortunately it bounced right onto their stick for the game-winning goal,' Weber said.
Making excuses already, coach?"
"I agree once again with Darrin. We all know those bounces win and lose games. We won it because Miller was in the slot and got to the loose puck. I am very dissapointed in Cincy and the ECHL should frown upon teams such as them."
Oh yeah, I guess we're a bunch of goonish sore-losers all the sudden. And our Coach of the Year is a bad sport and the ECHL should frown on us. I guess they should consider themselves lucky that they never played Elmira!

Ah, my bad. I'm used to NHL and USA hockey rules. Totally forgot about the 'ole two line pass.
And to Shorty_Rock's comments on the faceoff, once again I was thinking USA Hockey rules. In USA Hockey the puck does not need to be on the face off dot. It is dropped in a line of the face off dots where the puck was last played. Guess I need to brush up on some of the finer points differentiating the ECHL rulebook from the USA Hockey and NHL rulebooks.
Thanks for the clarification to both. |

the 2 questions regarding officiating in game 2 that i have are:
1. goaltender interference. ceddy gets checked while playing the puck behind his net with no call (ceddy had a rather heated discussion with hebert immediately afterwards. i would realy like to know what hebert told ceddy regarding that non-call). then later, jason gets stuffed into lalonde and gets sent off. why the descrepency?
2. when limpdick, er limpright got booked for interference in the 2nd, a scrum ensued causing syro and another LV player to get sent off. the scrum was not created by the initial penalty but by limpdick. the linesman told him to go to the box and he skated off to the neutral zone. as soon as the linesman turned his back limpdick skated back into our zone and went after one of our players. this in my eyes is grounds for at least another 2 for unsportsman like conduct if not a 10min. where was hebert looking that he missed this? he should have been paying attention to the player he just sent to the box.
as far as what LV fans are saying about chuck being a sore loser. chuck saw the goal exactly the way it happened. and LV shot hit chad high up in the chest. as he was trying to find it it bounced out to the LV player who shot and scored. it's not like it was a highly skilled play or anything. LV's coach even said his team got outplayed in every category except the score and that his team was lucky to come away with the win......maybe the LV fans should read what their own coach says about the game before they start calling ours names. |
