According to the ECHL's website the following players are on the Protected list:
CINCINNATI CYCLONES Jean-Michel Daoust Jason Deitsch David Desharnais Barret Ehgoetz Dov Grumet-Morris Billy Irish-Baker T.J. McElroy Matt Macdonald Conrad Martin Sean Perkins Scott Reynolds Chad Starling Jeremy Swanson Matt Syroczynski Avery Wilson Mike Wirll
Could someone tell me what this means please? |

| Mike Wirll?! I know he went to Europe to play this year, but does this mean he could return to play for us again next year? Good Lord you might as well just give us a 2nd straight Kelly Cup in that case. |

| I believe it means that if they play in the E next year they have to play here or be released... |

Cedrick is the property of Hamilton. They hold his rights and in theory assign him anywhere (in the ECHL)they wanted him to play. Other prominent players like Bryan Schmidt and Jon Gleed are in that same boat.
BTW I think hockeyfights.com has last years list...Matt Rogers is on it and he finished with Pensacola this year. |

ECHL Announces Protected Lists June 3, 2008
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Tuesday announced the Protected Lists as submitted by each of its member teams.
Teams are allowed to protect as many players as they wish provided the players protected meet the guidelines as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association which state that teams shall retain the rights to each player that:
1. Signed a Standard Players Contract in 2007-08, and has not been traded or released, OR
2. Signed Standard Players Contract in 2007-08, and was recalled to the National Hockey League, the American Hockey League or an International Ice Hockey Federation team, and has not been traded or released, OR
3. Received a 2007-08 Qualifying Offer for the current season, and DID NOT sign a Standard Players Contract, and has not been traded or released, OR
4. Has been suspended by the team or League, and has not been traded or released, OR
5. Signed Standard Players Contract on or after the first day of the 2007-08 regular season, then subsequently signed an NHL/AHL contract, and has not been traded or released, OR
6. Has executed the ECHL Retirement Form, and has not been traded or released
Protected lists may exceed 20 players.
The ECHL also announced that teams must complete all Future Consideration trades by 3 p.m. ET on June 13 and that teams must submit their Season-Ending Roster by 3 p.m. ET on June 15.
Season-ending rosters may include up to 20 players and cannot include any players who did not sign an ECHL contract in 2007-08.
The ECHL announced in May that all players for the Columbia Inferno have been declared unrestricted free agents.
The Inferno requested and received approval from the ECHL Board of Governors for a Voluntary Suspension for the 2008-09 Season as the Member continues to work diligently toward a new facility in Lexington County, S.C.

| Ok, I don't feel so bad now that I see other people don't understand this list business~lol~all I know is I don't wanna give up Ceddy AND Syroczynski in the same season...that should be ILLEGAL I tell ya! |
