The Columbus Blue Jackets will trade left wing Raffi Torres before the NHL trade deadline. The Blue Jackets want a center or puck-moving defenseman, but it's hard to see Torres bringing that kind of return. There are 8-10 teams that would be willing to give up a second-round pick for him, though.

One team interested in Torres is the Pittsburgh Penguins. He'd be a real good pickup for them for the playoffs. Colorado and Terry Murray's LA Kings are also interested.

Torres is a free agent at the end of the season. Milan Jurcina and Fredrik Modin are other Blue Jackets that could be moved by the deadline.

Raffi has had a solid year thus far and I'd be sad to see him go. He is one of just a handful of CBJ players who gave great efforts night in and night out this season but the writing is on the wall. The CBJ most likely won't be able to afford him after the season so they may as well get something for him.

Modin has a no trade clause in his contract and reports are that GM Scott Howson has already had discussions with Modin about waiving the clause. A once durable player, Modin has issues staying healthy after coming to Columbus. He did provide a spark for the team when he returned for a few games but has since been put on the shelf; most likely to allow him to be healthy for the Olympics in hopes of increasing his trade value.

Jurcina, probably won't bring enough to justify trading, but even a low draft pic or two would suffice, at least from from the Syracuse perspective (Syracuse is the CBJ AHL affiliate and has received little help the last season or 2). It won't surprise me if they try to sign him for a season or 2 longer. Howson has stated CBJ 2009 top draftee John Moore will spend at least one full season in Syracuse. Jurcina gives the CBJ blueline some size and he's a right handed shot.
