A ticketmaster search has revealed that tickets are now being sold in the lower corner sections (136 and 116 on the two searches).

The post Jan 1 average weekend attendance has been a sterling 6,186. Perhaps with a good walk up this average can move a little bit higher.

It really has been encouraging to see the continued growth in Cyclone crowds in this economy and with the 20% ticket price increase. I was more than a bit concerned with the price increase, but it has not slowed the momentum of growth at all.

The walk-up sales have been very solid this season, which is a tribute to the Cyclones marketing and promotional efforts. A low season ticket base and an ineffective group sales program is what's keeping the Cyclones from being one of the top six teams in the ECHL in attendance. Building the season ticket base takes time, but group sales is an area they could turn around overnight if they were to implement the right plan.

I think the history of hockey not working out in this town hurts season ticket sales. Tends to give people pause in terms of up front commitment. Plus the team has to compete with the Bengals, Reds, and lots of college football and basketball.

Its a hard sell, but its good to see things steadily on the rise. Hopefully a percentage of the walkups will convert to season tickets.

When you build a house, you start with the foundation first. The first thing you have to do is be fun to watch and WIN. So far so good.

The Reds play in the months the Cyclones don't and the Bengals have just eight regular-season home games, with a third of their home schedule complete by the time the ECHL season begins. NFL ticket prices also eliminate families and people just looking for something to do, too.

The reds and bengals may PLAY mostly at a different time, but its still competition for your sports viewing dollar, especially in terms of a season ticket purchase. Add UC, Xavier, Louisville, UK and Ohio State sports to the mix and the Cyclones have ALOT of sports dollar competition.

This town is an uphill climb for a minor league hockey team, and the Cyclones seem to be doing quite well, especially in terms of growth. When we first moved here in January '07 we went to a Saturday game and there couldn't have been 700 people there. 6000 is certainly not a full house, but its a loooong way from 700.

I really don't know what the season ticket count is at so I don't know I can disagree with that part. I personally purchase three half-season tickets as I organize several group outings a year. On that note I brought 134 to a game in November, will be bringing 133 next Saturday night, and have 200 reserved for April 2nd. This is not to mention several smaller groups during the season and at least one suite during the season. This is due to the help of my ticket rep and the Cyclones staff. They bend over backwards to accomodate me so I would disagree with that part of your statement.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!
