Good evening Cyclone fans, my wife and I are planning to make a weekend of an upcoming K-Wings road trip and Saturday the 27th we'll be visiting you in your house. I'm hoping ya'll can offer some good info on a quality yet reasonably priced place to stay and maybe recommend some good eats also? Also, are there any Casinos in your area? Thanks in advance and if any of you are coming to the north to visit us in Kalamazoo I'll gladly provide as much info as I can to help ya make the trip easier.

First of all, and most importantly, I hope you have a safe trip to and from Cincinnati on the weekend of the 27th.

I'm not sure what your budget for the trip looks like, but there are lots of dining and lodging options in and around the Cincinnati downtown area. I'm not too familiar with the lodging options myself, as I have never needed to utilize them. I'll let someone else address those.

But as far as eating goes, there are lots of good places. For a nice sit-down restaurant, you can't go wrong with the Montgomery Inn Boathouse which is not too far away from the arena (less than a 5 min. drive). Of course there is always Cincinnati's famous Skyline Chili if you want something cheaper/quicker. There's one on 4th and Sycamore St downtown (again, less than 5 minutes from the arena). If time allows, check out Newport on the Levee which is just across the bridge from the Arena in Kentucky. It's a retail area on the Newport, Kentucky riverfront with some nice restaurants and a few shops, etc.

The closest casino to town would be the former Argosy Casino (Now Hollywood Casino) in Southeast Indiana (Lawrenceburg), but that is a good 1/2 hour to 45 minutes away.

One word of advice: Don't pay the $10 to park in the parking garage adjacent to US Bank Arena. There is a private lot about 1-2 blocks further down the street on Pete Rose Way that only changes $5 and it is a very short walk up to the arena.

Hope some of this helps. Enjoy your stay in Cincinnati!

If you like Thai food, one of the best restaurants in the states, Teak Thai is about 5 minutes from the arena in Mount Adams. Very reasonably priced considering the quality.

If you want a great (big) beer and some german pork Hofbrau Haus is just across the river in Newport. I recommend the Marzen seasonal beer.

Right up the street from Hofbrau is Pompilios Italian. Highly recommend that as well.

Google any of the above and the map comes right up. There are the usual chain restaurants and pubs in the area, but those are a few options unique to Cincinnati.

Hope you enjoy it here, but I hope you guys lose. ;)

Yes, I grew up playing hockey... In Alabama.

For lodging, I would stay probably in the Norwood area. That's off I-75 and the Norwood Lateral. I think there's a Holiday Inn on Montgomery Road. I wouldn't really stay downtown because of the pricing but being downtown you wouldn't have to drive to the arena & park in the garage.

Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

There's a Travelodge in Newport, KY that's within walking distance of the arena and other attractions, such as the Newport Aquarium (KY), Newport on the Levee (KY), National Underground Railroad Freedom Center (OH), Ballpark (OH), Historic Southgate House (KY - Bar, Live Music, historic setting), James Taylor Park (KY - A small city park, but offers a beautiful view of the river & skyline). You'd literally just have to walk out of the parking lot to the Taylor-Southgate Bridge, cross it, then you're at the front steps of the arena.

I live in Newport, so I'm not sure what all is out there as far as downtown Cincinnati hotels. It'd be much more budget-friendly to stay on the Kentucky side of the river or 5-10 minutes on the outskirts of town.

Oooooooo....I would not recommend the TravelLodge unless you plan on actively engaging in, or want to be exposed to, various types of nefarious activity

There is a Comfort Suites in Newport as well...

http://bit.ly/9tQNbf

It's a little further from the Arena but still isn't too bad of a walk if it's nice out.

You can stay 15-20 miles north and get a wide variety of chain hotels. There are quite a few really nice newer properties at Union Centre Blvd off of I-75. An Ikea also at that exit.

Newport, KY has everything you need. Hotels, Motels, Eating, Drinking, Shopping, you name it. Also, Covington, KY is an option. As far as food, Italian: Pompilios in Newport at 6th n Washington. German: Hoffbrauhaus across the street from Newport on the Levee. GOLD STAR Chili!!! F-Skyline!! LaRosas Pizza is the best EVER also! If you stay in Newport, You won't need the car which saves you money. Have a safe trip, wish I could be there, but I do have B2!!

As a road trip traveler I would recommend staying in Sharonville which is I 75 and Sharon Road. There are several hotels: Drury Inn, Red Roof, Holiday Inn Express, Country Inn & Suites & eateries: BBQ, Cracker Barrell, Ruby Tuesday, Bob Evans to name a few.
