It appears to me that our next opponent will be the Reading Royals. They won again last night over Florida. Out west it will probably be Idaho as the opponent there.

Don't get ahead of ourselves. Let's play this series and hope and pray for a next series.

Our next opponent is Charlotte for at least three more games. We start looking ahead and there wont be a next opponent until October?

And this team has had a tendency to come out flat after blowing someone out.

Looking at the stats I can't believe Munce has not been pulled. 9 goals on 21 shots is horrendous. I can only assume the backup is an EBUG.

EDIT - Game sheet update was slow. Munce got pulled after the 7th.

While I'm sure it was a fun time (we had family stuff and couldn't go), the game stats certainly don't fill me with overconfidence. We got badly outshot and gave up 5. Honestly, unless the boys were just shooting GREAT tonight, it looks like we were the beneficiary of some poor goalie play for the bad guys.
Can't count on that every game.

This series ain't over.

Yes, I grew up playing hockey... In Alabama.

Badly outshot again. 38-25 in game 2 and 42-24 last night and five goals in both games after leading the league in lowest shots allowed and 2nd lowest in GAA. Great win, effort, and fun game to watch but these are not stats that are going to win you a lot of games in the playoffs which are usually close checking. Charlotte played that type of game and we didn't. They kept on top of us both fore checking and back checking and we played a zone. Evidently the coaches feel that their size advantage doesn't allow us to play close to them and try and take them off the puck.

Had hoped Milwaukee would lose last night allowing Van Gilder and Cashman to come back but they rallied to beat Chicago.

Shots on goal are important, but I remember at least one game this season where we had a club record number of shots, I think in the first period and went on to out shoot them over the entire game, but we still managed to loose the game!
I feel the quality of the shots are as important as the number. If our opponent, in this case Charlotte, gets double the SOG than us, but we still win the game, so be it.
Quality is more important than quantity!

As you said, "but I remember at least one game this season where we had a club record number of shots, I think in the first period and went on to out shoot them over the entire game, but we still managed to loose the game!"

My point is that that was one game and no one says being outshot means you will lose. it is now two games in a row where we have been badly outshot though and you can't win a series having that done every night. If we can't take them off the puck in our defensive zone the shots will continue to come fast and furious.
