Poll on WLWT.com asks what event are you enjoying more? The Reds taking over first place with wins over the Cardinals, the Cyclones winning the first two games of their Kelly Cup finals series, or it's getting closer to football season.
The results so far:
49% - Reds 41% - Football 10% - Cyclones

Well, did my part and voted Clones.
Sad fact is, many people in this area don't even KNOW about the Cyclones... and sadly, some REFUSE to go due to past loyalty to the Mighty Ducks.
Another fact, though... attendance at the Clones rises and word is spreading. Hope they keep climbing! |

Well I just bumped it up to 12%. |
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The primary reason a lot of former Mighty Ducks fans don't go to Cyclones games is because of the location of the arena. They don't like going downtown, especially during the winter months. It has been that way since 1975 with area hockey fans. |

Sorry DH but I can't buy the Duck fans staying away because of the location. I live on the west side and the west side has always been Cyclones fans from the Garden days to now at USBA. The crowd we had for game 7 tells me the fans of Cincinnati are behind the Cyclones. WLWT is like every other media outlet in Cincinnati- Reds,Bengals,UC/Xavier/UK then everyone else in coverage. |

"Hockey Fans" that don't go to games because of parking or the location of the arena aren't "hockey fans."
"I LOVE hockey, but I didn't bother to watch the local boys win a 2nd cup in 3 years because of the parking situation."
Uh huh. Sure. I want to talk hockey with that guy.
Thanks for the usual contribution though. I needed some internet silly crap to laugh at tonight.
PS - Sorry guys, this ain't a hockey town. Its just not. Yes, attendance is up now because its the finals, getting alot of press, and the Reds aren't interfering. But don't forget games 1 and 2 with Reading were embarassing from an attendance standpoint.
Lets be happy with what we have, keep trying our best to spread the word, and not worry about AHL or parking or whatever. Great hockey... $5 parking... $12 tickets... Banners in the rafters. All is well.

Sadly I know of some people who refuse to go downtown for the games simply because of parking/downtown. |

I haven't been to a Cyclones playoff game the past two years. They seem to always play on the same nights there's a Stanley Cup playoff game on TV, or the Reds are at home and I go to the game or they're on TV. But I am glad to see the Cyclones doing well and keeping hockey alive in Cincinnati. |

True we go through the normal playoff attendance ups and downs of minor league hockey, you should know about that right? But actually, regular season attendance has steadily climbed, and if this is no hockey town then how have we had the Swords, Stingers, Tigers, Mighty Ducks, Cyclones, Wolves, Railraiders? etc. A lot of hockey history runs through this 'town'. Cincinnati has been a part of a lot of careers and progressions BECAUSE we are a hockey town, just not on the level of Toronto or maybe Detroit, and that is mostly the fault of local press, corporate and other influences or lack there of.
I appreciate your input, catch22, but you're obviously a 'glass is half empty' kinda person.

There's a lot of "hockey towns" where the attendance decreases once the playoffs begin. That hasn't been the case here in this non-hockey town since the Cyclones returned in 2006. |

The reality of playoff attendance for the Cyclones (and many minor league clubs) is that, at first, it's actually a little lower than regular season because the schedule is unknown or last-minute, often including weekday games with little time to prepare and NO giveaways to draw fans. Then, if the team runs deeper like the Clones have the past few years, attendance climbs higher and higher as they reach the Cup. This week should have nice attendance as we hopefully wrap it up here. |

The Clones attendance should be up also because this time, the Reds are out of town, so no competition there

Funny how parking concerns keep former Ducks fans away from Cyclones games, but not Reds games. Well, I guess there is a long distance between playing venues for each team of at least, what, 150 yards? |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

checked out the poll this morning: reds - 44% cyclones - 21% football - 36%
this is also the same site (wlwt.com) whose top news video recommendations are about the buffett concert and a counting dog, so i'm not going to put too much stock in their results. |

Not only has attendance been rising for the playoff games, but look at the over all numbers for the last few years According to the ECHL, the Cyclones have had the largest increases per year, if i'm not mistaken, now for three straight years The numbers still aren't what alot of us would like to see, but they "ARE" going up as more people find out about the Cyclonse |
