And hell, if the rumors about the AHL@the Gardens coming back in '07-'08 again, we could be sitting pretty for about... oh... a year. |

Great news and please don't even think about an AHL team for the
Gardens. They had their chance and failed,now we need to step up
and make the Cyclones fly again.I look forward to hearing from the
Cyclones about the upcoming season and season tickets.How about
Dennis D. as head coach and Don Biggs as assistant coach!!! I hope
they can bring the excitement back like they have at the Marshals
arena games.I vote for dusting off the old logo and bring back the
glory days!!! |

| I am shocked/confused/puzzled by the annoucement. I have to say i didnt see it coming. As for tickets prices, a little steep considering the AHL (I lever higher) was charging less. I hope it works, but they better higher marketing geniuses!!! |

I hope this message finds everyone doing well. It's been a long, long time.
This is good news to be sure, let's see what these guys can do being the only ticket in town and with some time off. The Railraiders had some real support in their effort to get 2000 deposits and have been said to have reached north of 1500 of that goal. Honestly, that's not too bad considering how little marketing and advertisement the team did. I really thought they might pull it out, but their loss is hopefully the Cyclones' gain.
I have checked the Heckler's Grove boards off and on over the past couple of years just to see what's been going on with local hockey, and most of the folks on that board were (predictably) really pushing the whole Railraiders deal and thumping their chests with 'we're all in it together'. Unfortunately, some of them seem to be backing away already from the "Let's support Cincinnati hockey no matter what!" mantra that they had constructed to try to win over former Cyclones fans and are slighting this effort to rebirth the Cyclones. We can only hope though that the masses are smarter than some of the bitter elites over there and jump onboard the Cyclones bandwagon.
I really don't know what will happen with this new whirl. I hope it works out well and they can keep 5000+ as the average, that would be nice. It's probably a pipe dream to think it will be like the first year of the IHL and that unforgetable opening night of 13000+ that were there, but that should of course be the goal of the front office. I suspect this has to do a lot more with keeping the building going with event though more than it does trying to turn a huge profit out of this. I bet breaking even would be a good start for the first 5 years, if it goes that long.
The million dollar question that i'm sure everyone is asking and waiting for me to get to, is no, I won't be buying season tickets, much to either the chagrin or the joy of my former sectionmmates. At the moment my life is far too busy between work and grad school, and the occasional rec hockey game that I fit in. I will get down to plenty of games though and probably bring Grandpa down for some games as well. He's slowed down, but is still alive and kicking to be sure.
I'm curious to see how many people that still stop by here will be back to the old barn. I would think a lot of people stopped reading this forum a long time ago due to lack of activity and purpose, but maybe they'll drop by again now that the announcement as made, as soon as they find out. My neighbor actually told me about the news today (of course I wouldn't actually buy the Cincinnati Enquirer, I wouldn't let my dog take a **** on it, i'd be scared he'd catch something) and i'm sure more and more old timers will find out in the coming weeks.
I hope this time the team makes this work long term and there isn't any more strife like we've seen with the poorly named "hockey wars" and competition between rinks to split the fan base. I wouldn't be surprised if the Gardens don't try to rehash the Railraiders next year, but for one season at least we can have some peace and see how it goes. I really do think this could work though if it's the only hockey ticket in town.

I know where your coming from "puckhead" and I agree. I will be
calling them this week about season tickets,but I would have liked
a walk up ticket available for $10 or less. Season tickets bring the
$12 down to $10,but their site sounds like the free parking pass may
be gone.They mention the buying of a parking pass, so maybe you can
get one that will bring parking down at least $3 or $4 a game.
We went last night to the Marshals game and they announced the
Clones coming back and saw at least three of us with Cyclone shirts
and jerseys walking around.Their announcer is lively,the music is
upbeat like the old Gardens days, and their cheerleaders remind me of
the old Miller GD girls.That spirit with an upbeat hockey stle can
make it fun again. |

If the RailRaiders do make a resurgence in '07-'08 for comparable ticket prices, it will be darn hard not to make the jump back up to the AHL. I've been watching that tier of hockey ever since the Cyclones made the jump to the IHL and it's hard to step back. It is the only game in town so I will definitely be there cheering on the home team. But if the AHL is available, I would find myself primarily watching the higher level of hockey.
Actually my nirvana would be for the RailRaider to be partially bought out by the Blue Jackets and have the ECHL affiliation move from Dayton to Cincinnati thus having the Cyclones become the affiliate for the RailRaiders. Never gonna happen, but boy would it be sweet.
I will of course have only good things to say for either team since, after all, it is HOME TOWN HOCKEY. |

Hey, I have a question also regarding ticket plans. Are there specials prices for kids? The old Clones used to have children pricing and the Ducks/RailRaiders had kids prices built into the season ticket plan. |

Glad they are back. I was tired not watching Hockey. I Will call Monday to see about getting my season TIckets back. I will be there on the first night to cheer the Cyclones on. Does anyone know when they will bring out a Hockey dates will be of when training is going to be

I hate to sound offensive but I would like all AHL talk in Cincy to
come to an end now! The Gardens had their chance and failed.As for the Columbus AHL going to the Gardens and their ECHL being at US
Bank arena,that would be like the Reds playing in Florence and the
Florence playing at Great America. I've seen some great games at the
ECHL level and some real dogs by IHL/AHL players going through the
motions at the AHL level. The main items we need is a coach with guts
to keep the players going, an upbeat tempo game style that even a
loss was worth seeing and finally,management that will send packing
bad players and bring in talent for areas needing it.The last thing I
want to see is screwing Dayton over by taking their affiliation. |

OK, How about this nirvana then? After a season or two in the E, Niederlander with casteliini's help buys an NHL franchise to play downtown, the gardens resurect the franchise to be the AAA affiliate of the NHL Cyclones who then also affliliate with dayton while Columbus affiliates with Cleveland in the A and Toledo in the E. Great interstate rivalries all the way around AND EVERYBODY WINS.

The kids and I (yes, kids, plural) will be there at the start of the season. I'm going to have to take pictures to send to Brad. ;)
You guys have no idea how excited I am... we've been in CA for a couple years and ya'll know my arse wasn't driving up to LA every weekend for games... lol

I just got in the mail from the Cyclones the info on season
tickets. I'm going to try and stop down next week and get season
tickets.The info calls for a 1/3 deposit now and remaining payment
later. I'm hoping we play Las Vegas out in Vegas this year so I might
have an excuse for an extra trip out there. |

Went to a preliminary Cyclones Board meeting last night at the arena. Met a couple of the higher ups. They sound good. Jo Jo was there too.
Season tickets that cost $360 (end zone) are $120 down, $120 in July and $120 in September. Not bad. My seat is in 101. Will Sectiion 60 be back? They also said they would be sending out information about buying discount parking vouchers. I think $5 a game instead of $6-8 |
