Everyone knows about the Jersey auction today, Smith's jersey for $1300.00....WOW and double WOW, I just wanted a jersey for my Wife seeing she bought me a Matt McDonald game-worn finals from 2007-08. I wasn't picky on who's jersey I wanted to win, we walked away with Van Guilder's jersey. He took a nice photo with our Daughters after we won his jersey.
What I don't understand is how can Meigray be Auctioning off Red Finals Road jerseys? especially if I caught the announcement today at the rally that the jerseys off the teams backs were from games 1 and 2 in Boise? |

Ive already contacted MeiGray and ask them what is going on. Being that MeiGray already had the full set of reds up for auction with pictures, im guessing that either the ones they auctioned yesterday were just the red set 2 with a KC patch put on them. Or possibly they wore those jerseys in the first period and then the ones that went to meigray in 2nd and 3rd or something. Whatever info ill find out, ill pass on.
The jersey did come with an LOA right? I thought a saw a woman filling out paperwork at a table off to the side. What does it state? |

No, we won the Van Guilder jersey and got no LOA. What the folks taking payments was doing was writing our credit card numbers on our auction number cards. Same as during the regular season for other special jersey nights. |

Scuba - I just got off the phone with Barry Meisel and he confirmed they were the 2nd set worn up through the reading series just as Randy posted. The equipment manager added on the KC patch as they would have wore those jerseys in 6/7 if they were needed.
I figured they would have drawn up LOA's before. I didnt get any jerseys this year from the charity auctions, but both I bought last year came with paperwork. |

That is problematic for me because That makes them not actually game worn FINALS jerseys, but game worn playoff jerseys for the Reading series. |

They said at the beginning of the auction that they were playoff jerseys. |

A playoff jersey yes, Not a Finals jersey. The Reading series jersey didn't have the Finals patch on it....now technically it is a finals jersey seeing it might have been used in games 6-7 but we are splitting hairs.
No matter, I spoke with the Cyclones front office and we are square. the jerseys that were auctioned off yesterday was infact jerseys for games 6 and 7 if needed. They were indeed the jerseys from the playoffs up until the finals. I believe this to be an honest mistake, they may in fact have said they were playoff jerseys at the rally however with the Finals patch it leads one to believe that if they wore red in Boise and white at home that any red jersey with a finals patch attached would have been from games 1 and 2 of the finals |

Kevin (pretty sure thats his name) the auctioneer specifically said they were worn in games 1 and 2 versus Idaho. I dont think they intentionally tried to mislead people, probably just mis-informed. Im sure there are quite a few people who are or would be upset to know they simply bought a set 2 jersey that had the patch put on it. |

Yes, I was just informed that these are PLAYOFF Game-Worn up through the Reading series. At the start of the Idaho series, they were given a new set of jerseys. At the end of Game 2, those jerseys were shipped to Meigray for their auction. The Jerseys that were auctioned off on Sunday were the Jersey's that would have been worn in Games 6 & 7 if needed, which is why the "Kelly Cup Finals" patch is on them. There was a mis-communication on exactly which set of Jerseys these were. Those that purchased a Jersey Sunday should be contacted soon to be given the option to return the Jersey if they'd like, or keep it and be charged the final bid price.

Not that I was aware of, Not a charity auction, never heard that..... The jerseys from yesterday were worn through the Reading series, without the finals patches the jerseys have very significant importance, i'm certain that the jerseys would have fetched a fair amount being auctioned off by the original title as the jerseys the team wore to battle back from being down 3 games to none against Reading. |

ok everyone take a minute and collect your thoughts. the announcement by the cyclones of the celebration and then the last part would be for game worn jerseys " The special 90 minute program will conclude with a live auction of the Cyclones game worn jerseys at the event". this is a direct quote from the release that can be seen on the cyclones web site. . second, on letters of auth. lets get real those are for the major leagues where the jerseys will be worth more then when orig. purchased (an investment and if your purchsasing one for that reason i have a deal for you). i remember back in the ihl days of biggs, dionne, and the carolina players that the jerseys were auctioned w/o "loa". heck how can u have a play off jersey of team memebers that did not even play or were on the play-off rosters. individuals bought the jerseys because of who the players were and memories they have of them and to show support for the team and the player who wore the sweaters proudly and gave us fans time to rejoice in the light of a chamlionship again. |

I wouldn't want it so I could sell my jersey, I'd want it just because it's neat. If you framed the jersey you could frame it with that and a picture of the player wearing the jersey in a game. It's not like its a big deal for Meigray to make a LOA anyways, I doubt they mind.

It was pretty simple for me, I wanted a Finals jersey for my Wife to match mine she won back in 2008. I'm not exactly certain when but I noted that Meigray has auction listings for red road Finals jerseys from game 1-2. I bid on Sunday thinking that the Clones had decided not to send the Jerseys to Meigray electing to auction them off to fans in person. I didn't want to miss out. Prior to the start of the Auction it was stated that the Jerseys were from the Finals. That however did then create a mistery set of red Roads. I'm certain that at some point and time I could obtain a game jersey from the 2010 season, I paid more money for the Finals jersey. More money than I would have for a non-Finals jersey.
as for the Certificate of Authenticity, don't care about it and in the absence of not knowing about meigray I would be tickled to own the jersey I won on Sunday. As previously mentioned, the Clones and I are square |
