So it was announced yesterday that the Blue Jackets offrered Guy Boucher the head coaching position. He has until early this week to make decision. So if, and it may be a big if, that he takes the job does Weber move to Hamilton? Or does his lack of speaking French limit has chances there. He has certainly provoen he deserves to move move up the ladder.

Welllll, he himself has said no, because of his lack of French; but if Boucher does in fact leave, Montreal has shot themselves in the foot a bit, and may change their mind, having seen his winning ways and all. According to reporters in MTL they already offered the HAM job to Kirk Muller (Habs' assistant coach), but he doens't seem interested.

After seeing the player moves that Weber has pulled off these last
years, learning enough French to land an AHL coaching job would be
"chump change". Heck, he probably could part the water if he wanted
too .

Guy Boucher is now the coach of Tampa Bay and reports are that he is taking Hamilton's staff with him. Personally, the Columbus job is a joke due to the dominance of 2 teams over the entire division. What happens in Hamilton? Don't know, but let's watch what unfolds.

Columbus hired Scott Arniel of Manitoba of the AHL. I'll bet that is a lame duck job!

SI.com is reporting Guy Boucher is taking his coaching staff with him to Tampa Bay. I can't imagine Coaches Weber and Stork don't have the inside track to that job, french speaking or not.

The anticipation on what (if anything) is going to happen is nerve racking for Clones fans. As much as I hate to say it, if its going to happen, make it quick so a search can begin for a replacement. I'm sure the organization is making inquires just in case though.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

quote:
There has been speculation that Canadiens assistant Kirk Muller will move to Hamilton. His ambition is to be a head coach in the NHL and a stint in the AHL would give him a chance to prove he can run his own show. Muller's only previous experience as a head coach was a year behind the bench of a bad Queen's University team.

But moving Muller to Hamilton would create a problem at the NHL level, particularly if the team's other assistant coach, Perry Pearn, decides to leave. Pearn, who knows the difficulty of being labelled as a good No. 2 man, has been mulling over an offer to coach the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League. Edmonton is Pearn's old stomping grounds and this might be his final chance to show he's head-coaching material.

This appears to me to bode well for Weber's chances to get the Hamilton job. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

A recent article in the Montreal Canadiens Examiner listed 3 candiates for the Hamilton job; Muller and 2 coaches from the QMJHL. There was no mention of Chuck.

I've also done some looking into who is being mentioned for the other 2 AHL openings. Rochester could be an interesting match for Chuck given his ties to the area but thus far the press has not mentioned his name.

As far as Manitoba goes, there have been no official media mentions of Chuck. Weber was mentioned on a Moose Fan Forum but that's it. Rumor is that Manitoba wants to talk with former Columbus interim coach Claude Noel.

There are always surprises when it comes to AHL coaching decisions since, with the exception of a few teams, the decision is made be the NHL parent club.

from what I've been reading, it has been stated that Arniel will have input into hiring the coach for Springfield, Columbus' new AHL affiliate. I also read a quote by Arniel that he prefers "team toughness as opposed to enforcers". Where have we heard that quote before. Let me be the first to say I would love to see Chuck here for many seasons to come but he has certainly earned more than a quick glance at the next level. I hope he gets his shot behind the bench of one of those spots as he's pretty much proven all he can here.
