Beat me to it dt...and the photo caption about the cyclones signing Chuck to a multi year deal? Not to nitpick when hockey finally gets some notice, but c'mon, at least fact check a little before hitting "publish"...

Further proof that the media doesn't get hockey....or just plain doesn't care.

WCPO must have cleaned up the linked article from when you guys read it. It's a really good one now.

"The only way David Desharnais will see an NHL game is if he buys a ticket".
--donnie hockey

"David Desharnais will be invisible during 5 on 5 hockey. IN THE AHL"
--donnie hockey

looks like he changed the first reference but not the other...and the picture caption still the same...

I guess that I'm still in the "thrilled" stage when I see anything at all. There are quite a few mistakes in the piece.

I stand corrected. As the article should.

The fact that Chuck Weber does not want to leave Cincinnati totally behind makes me truly believe that he has got to be one of the best coaches of any team this city has ever seen. He gets the AHL promotion he deserved, but because of the team, city, he still wants that working relationship with the team, and because of this he is a coach that will never be forgotten because of his great class as a person and coach.

I honestly feel that the "multi-year" thing simply guaranteed him a job for as long as he didn't get an AHL job. Now that he has that AHL job, the contract has lived to its full purpose.

KELLY CUP CHAMPIONS- 2008, 2010
AMERICAN/EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS- 2008, 2010, 2014
DIVISION CHAMPIONS- 1996, 2008, 2009, 2013
2008 BRABHAM CUP CHAMPIONS
Boards + visitors = broken bones!

Quoted for Truth.

Weber is the rarest of commodities these days. He does his best to leave his prior situation in better shape than he found it.

As one of his new bosses (Santos) recently said: "He's a great coach and an even better person".

Like everyone else has stated this is such a true statement. I found myself doing a little reflecting when i was at boomerangs the other night. As usual chuck was entertaining questions from the fans and no matter how many times he was asked about the new job, the answer was always polite-like it was the first time he had been asked about it. So often success changes people and not for the better. While winning the Kelly Cup is an amazing experience, i think the best part is that a good person orchestrated most of it. While i dont know him that well, what i do know is that he is the same person i met almost four years ago down at one of the first coach's shows @ dickmanns-to me that is as impressive as 2 cups in 3 yrs.
i wish chuck nothing but the best in the next step of his coaching journey, and am glad he has decided to bring the cincy organization/fans along for the ride!

At the congrats on your promotion party Thursday, I asked Chuck how did the team manage to pull off coming back from 3 games to none deficit in the Conference Finals. He simply replied that the team needed to rest due to how hard they had played in the previous 15 games. I'd say that he is definately a class act.

Cyclones hockey. A championship caliber team in a city of losers.
