"Egad" just about covers it, I think...

On the positive side, they can still go 71-1.

Looks like a few guys had a ROUGH night defensively. Got a few -3s from that game. That along with it looks like the 'clones spent the entire 2nd period in the box and not having a backup goalie is not a good recipe.

So does that mean nobody's allowed to have an opinion about it?

Seems to me, the boys haven't won their season opener in any of the recent years and look what they've done

Of course it's just the first game. It just wasn't a good one. No worries, still 71 more to go.

Remember the season is a marathon. Yes, points to matter at the end of the day, but we have not had our home opener yet, nor the first radio broadcast on terrestial radio. I think Elmyra has our number in general.

Cyclones hockey. A championship caliber team in a city of losers.

Very unusual night in that all three Cyclone goals, 3 of 4 assists, and half of the 16 shots were from defensemen. Don't ever remember seeing those type of stats in any pro league. Seems from this and the pre-season game that the coaches want to start the play up top with the d-men rather than in the corners and on the side walls which was Weber's preference even on power plays. Then again it could be just my feeble attempt to find something good in the box score!!

I think 71-1 is a bit far fetched but will take 70-2!!

Elmira had 10 power plays to our 4. A loss is hard to avoid with this type of PP imbalance.

At this level, with 2 weeks between the beginning of training camp and the opening game and all of the player movement (cuts, send downs, etc.), the first week of the regular season can almost be considered exhibition games which count in the standings.

If the Cyclones have 4 points by the time of their home opener on Oct. 30-they play their first five on the road-then there will be nothing to sweat.
