TOLEDO, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones (1-2-1-1) were unable to muster a late rally as the Toledo Walleye (2-2-0-0) held on for a 3-2 victory in front of 4,049 at Huntington Center in Toledo on Friday night. It was Toledo's first home win of the 2010-11 season.

Although both teams went scoreless in the opening period, the Cyclones controlled the play throughout - leading in the shots on goal 10-6 through 20 minutes.

Unfortunately, the scoreless tie didn't last long into the second period, as at 1:36 Andy Bohmbach collected a rebound left by Cyclones net minder Chet Pickard (L, 22 saves, 0-1-0) and stashed it for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 Walleye lead. Toledo gave themselves a two goal lead when Ryan Stokes deflected home a Peter LeBlanc point shot at 16:21. Luckily Brett Robinson was able to put the Cyclones on the board before the break, netting his second of the season at 19:24 of the second period. Despite leading in the shots on goal department, 23-14, the Cyclones trailed 2-1 after two periods.

The Walleye were able to regain a two-goal cushion just 5:58 into the third period when Kyle Robinson poked home a loose puck left in the crease when Pickard misplayed it behind the net. It was Toledo's first power play goal of the season in 20 tries. Not even two minutes later, at 7:56, the 'Clones cashed in on a beautiful 2-on-1 break when Scott Lehman dished a pass to Scott Reynolds, who wristed home his first of the season past Toledo goalie Scott Campbell (W, 30 saves, 1-0-0), making it 3-2 Walleye.

Unfortunately in the late stages of regulation, with the goalie pulled, Cincinnati took a pair penalties that negated any chance the Cyclones had to utilize an extra attacker. The Walleye were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory their first home win of the season.

Cincinnati was 0-for-4 on the power play tonight. Toledo finished 1-for-3.

After two weeks away from Cincinnati, the defending Kelly Cup Champion Cyclones open their home schedule TOMORROW night at U.S. Bank Arena against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:30pm. In addition to $1 John Morrell hot dogs, the first 10,000 fans through the gate will receive a free 2010-11 Magnetic Schedule courtesy of Hometown Sports and Collectibles. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.
