I think this is a great list of promotions, it seems like there is one for every home game.
WWE night is something I never expected, and will probably be one of the biggest draws because it is so popular among kids and adults alike. Most likely the arena worked out a deal with WWE since they have a PPV event there on the 5th (Cyber Sunday) and got John Cena, one of the biggest stars, to attend. Look for that game to be HUGE.
I was previously told by John Hamel about Thirsty Thursday but never told anyone about it. This has been a huge success for the Florence Freedom and it should fair well. Sports and cheap beer seem to mix well together. Pack The House night has always been around the next biggest draw besides NASCAR night as well. There are usually even commercials on the local channels for it.
Gilbert Dionne jersey retirement is something I have been expecting for a while, and I look forward to being there for it. I'll pass on Big Ben Motorcycle Helmet Night, if there was to be one promotional game to miss
Look for Rich Franklin Night to be huge as well. Probably the biggest besides WWE and NASCAR nights. UFC is becoming uber-popular, especially locally with Rich. NASCAR night will be huge as usual, but that's already been discussed.
Faith Night is a good idea but I don't see it drawing much. It works well for PKI who has Christian concerts and such, but a hockey game? Unless they get half-time performers, I don't see this doing well.
Melt The Ice Bikini Night is always big with a little WEBN promoting. St. Patrick's Day with the shamrock jerseys is fun as well.
All in all I would rate this set of promotions A+. They continued with the old ones that have been succesful (NASCAR, Melt The Ice) and added new ones that I see being huge (WWE, Thirsty Thursdays). |

What possibilities this could be!!! I also give the promotion
schedule a big thumbs up. The key to minor league sports is give
the fans their money worth,either on the field or off.The promotions
can bring people in the first time and the team's play can bring them
back again.I can't wait for the pre-season game on the 11th.Anyone
interested stop by Section 125, Row S, seats 13&14 and tell me what a
fool I am. You won't be the first one. |

Most dollar beer nights I have been to usually have beer served in 8 oz cups (half the size or less of what an arena beer is served in), are usually served at one or two concession stand, and the special price ceases when the game starts. It is usually a bait and shift promo, but I think most sports teams have learned their lesson after the Cleveland Indians had nickel beer night. And unless a taxi company or Metro is sponsoring this event, I think an ugly crowd driving home after the game would mean mega lawsuits for the franchise.
I am almost scared to see what Turkey Drop Night will be like.

I'm thinking that someone ran a Turkey Drop promotion a few years ago, but I don't remember what exactly was done. I'm sure that the Arena will not be bombed by live turkeys like the mythical Pinedale Shopping Mall.

No I want 25 live turkeys dropped from the rafters just like the WKRP show
or maybe put all the season ticket holders on the roof parking deck and get
Jim Phillips with his helicopter to drop live ones from the air!!I know you
PETA fans,I'm just kidding. As for the "ugly" on beer nights, as long as
management is prepared with security, a few loud mouths can be handled.That
is again the reason for a "family" section. |
