Found on the ECHL site a great article about Las Vegas. Main point is how the idea about the promotion of the team and event is so critical and not just sitting back and hoping the product (hockey) sells itself.
I have to agree Donny because I still remember the cheap fun items we always got and some of the crazy intermission games they cooked up. The team has done better these last few years but cheap beer Tuesday and Wednesday as your solve all for mid week is not the best. Look at the most recent crowd. Yes it was no school the next day but families with kids came down for an affordable night of hockey. Give us $1 cans of pop on a Wednesday along with $1 hot dogs and watch the families come down.
I think there would be more families come out for $1 soft drinks and hot dogs than those who go when there are $1 beers. And, the families are the one's they'd have a chance to develop into fans who end up with a season ticket package. The beer-drinking crowd rarely ever comes back when unless it's on another $1 beer night.
