It was mostly drills (naturally). There are a couple players trying out for the team in addition to those who have already been signed. Also, we've got a goalie sent from SJ.
But the best part, and I think this is what everyone else is going to be barking about, was the intensity these guys had. Even though these were just drills, these guys were almost fighting for the puck. Literally. There were a couple good hits that had the crowd going "Oooh!".
Not a bad turnout, fan-wise, either. I'd say about 20-30 folks in all (although, I wasn't counting much because I was just happy to see some live Hockey in front of me).
We showed up to watch the 4:00 practice today (Monday) and arrived around 4:10. We saw the players skating to the benches and then off to the locker rooms. Apparently practice was moved to 2:30 instead.
I did enjoy my 30 minute drive to SportsPlus and 45 minute drive home in traffic, so it wasn't a total loss. ;)
Yes, I was quite surprised when I got there at 4:05 to see them winding down. Sorry I missed it. I guess they needed time to pack for their trip tomorrow. Who knows.
