It looks like the af2 has been expanded by five teams for the 2007 professional indoor football season. Four teams will be coming out of Texas ... and one to Cincinnati. The Marshalls of the NIFL (a lower level league of indoor football than the af2) who currently play at US Bank Arena have been evicted from the building and their future is unknown at the time.
I think it's pretty safe to say that the Marshalls are done, as I really can't see the Marshalls moving to say, the Gardens, and us having two minor league indoor football teams. Bengals DT Sam Adams had previously mentioned before the announcement that was bringing in an indoor team, so perhaps there will be an announcement or mention when he drops the opening puck for the Cyclones tommorow night. |

I saw this too and it's a shame for the Marshalls because they really tried to make it work despite their owners and their league. It would be great to have the new team use the Marshalls name, have a league with teams that played, and an ownership that can handle them.PLEASE, don't let the owners be the Cyclone owners. We don't need a financial burden of another sport team dragging the hockey team down like the past. |

The whole thing makes no sense to me. I went to a Marshalls game this year and really enjoyed it. Who would think two teams is a good idea? If the one is forced out, how does that not alienate their fans? I suspect that the base for indoor football is not nearly as large as for hockey, and we all too well know what happened when that fan base was split. To quote "Seinfeld": "Thats not going to be good for business. Thats not going to be good for anybody." |

The Marshalls are coming back for sure, the admin at my school talked to the owner of the team and the NIFL commish. Hopefully the team gives me my first play-by-play job |

That's interesting, Slack, because having two minor league arena football teams is going to be very odd, especially since the Marshalls have struggled in the past to even draw attendance. The Marshalls have been evicted from USBA due to the interest in the new af2 team ... where will they play? The Gardens? Ready for an "arena football war?" |

The owners of the af2 team are Sam Adams, TJ Houshmanzadheh, Rudi Johnson, and Ken Griffey Jr. If you follow the NIFL you know it is a complete joke of a league. Last year they started with 23 teams. They ended the season with 7-8 teams. Many forfeits and semi pro teams being used. The af2 is the minor league to the AFL. This is the better league, and people have been wanting it since the Swarm died an unnecessary death. |
