Does anyone know why K'zoo is having another 10:30am game? Is it another education in hockey date?

If so, the boys are putting on an olde tyme show for the kids. Two fights and lots of majors in the 1st. Someone is being scrappy and I HOPE it is our boys.

1-0 good guys right now.

Make that 3 fights now Roeder took on Ftorek. That must have been interesting to watch. I think they are having a 2nd Hockey Day in Education. They changed 1 of the dates to a 10:30 game earlier this year.

Conacher has a hat trick... How long until Rochester calls him back up?

Don't think they can make the playoffs so I hope Chuck leaves him here.

Looks like it was a scrappy, nasty, ugly game and our boys FINALLY gave some of what they have been getting.
I LOVE IT!!!
Maybe, just maybe, the ugly beating from Toledo woke them up.
Maybe.

And Conacher is probably now a top 6 goal scorer for the team after playing two games. Anybody know if he is playoff eligible?
Based on what I know, I don't think so.
The kid appears to be a sniper.

Brunker confirmed the other day that Conacher is playoff eligible. I forget what loophole he sneaks through, but he can make it.

Edit: "he would be eligible...they can select two players that did not play in 5 games as long as they get 1 game with Cincy." - Nick Brunker

Cory will be playoff eligible. He is not on an AHL contract. Amateur players (guys finishing up their junior/college careers) only have to play in one game to be playoff eligible.

As a side note, I'm told that Conacher was actually found by Skalde and Chuck signed him per Skalde's reference to not only give him a look at the AHL level but also to protect him for us. There were apparently several teams looking at him.

I'd guess it was Hudson who brought him to Skalde's attention, as Hudson & Conacher were college teammates.

Couldn't make the game yesterday in K-Zoo or Toledo Sunday. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who went to either or both games your opinions on Conacher and why he has was so successful? Speed? Going to the net?" His shot? That he looks to shoot rather than pass?

Just amazing to me that he can have two games like that in his first two games. Aside from his direct impact, it must have a great positive impact on the play of the rest of the team knowing they now have an offensive weapon like that.

My take from the game in Toledo is:
Right places at the right time, can be patient or quick as needed, has some speed, accurate shot, and intelligent.

Thanks Shorty. Like the first thing you said. My experience has been that movement and knowing where to be when you don't have the puck is often the key to a scorer's success. Think of how many goals we have given up this year to players who go to the opposite post for tip ins or re-directions and how many we have scored. Seldom see our players there.
