The rules enforced now by the echl sucks, but its tough on the players to get used to the new rules when every ref calls the game different...I think right now the biggest problem with the league is consistency with the refs.It doesnt help the fact that the game is faster without the clutching and grabbing of old...There is a reason the nhl and im not sure but possibly the ahl has 2 refs...The game is to fast for 1 person to do his job...
If all the refs called the games as close as possible to the rules,it would all balance out after some time and entertaining hockey will be playing on the ice.
I talked to a friend of mine who traveled to the game wednesday and he said the crowd was decent. How was attendance that night? |

Is it going to reach a point of a video of the crowd and counting people
in the seats!This is plain stupid because there was probably 300 in the
upper sections and they tell me the bottom bowl is 6900? I can't believe
the count wasn't at least 2500.We look pathetic considering Johnstown's
small arena and we're so far behind them on paper.As for our friends the
REFS-this is hockey and not ice dancing.Quit calling the "tickey" fouls
and let the game play.Also, when the game starts to get out of hand,I would
love both teams called on the ice and the refs lay the law down to everyone
at the same time and then resume play. |

| My buddy said he thought there was close to 3000 there....Glad to see people coming to the game,hopefully they had fun and will come back again. |

| I thought it was around 3,000. I was pretty shocked to find out only 1712. Makes you wonder what's going on. The first time they played Toledo they announced the crowd at 3,000 and there were less people at that game than at this one. |

I'm not sure I would say it was as much or more as the first time Toledo was here (second game of the season), but I thought there were AT LEAST 2,000, leaning more towards 2,500 +. It seemed like a hell of a lot more than that Saturday night game against Wheeling where it was announced 1,900 something.
Everytime I go to a game and get home to look at the Leaguestat page for the game I am floored by how much lower my estimation was to the actual announced amount. I am going to have to start taking off a thousand and couple hundred to my "blind" guess at how many people were there watching the game. |

I guessed 3000 as well. One whole section above the bowl was fairly packed. I know the corners are sparse, but it was a vocal group. I dont have any idea why they would under report attendance, but it was a lively night! Maybe they didnt count any of the little kid hockey players and their families. I still conplain about the sound though, as if I wasnt familiar with the WKRP episode, I would never have understood what the characters were saying on the jumbo-tron.
On the officiating, it seemed to me they let much more go than I have seen so far this year. As such it seemed to get rougher. It must be frustrating as a player to not know whether you get the crew that calls every bump, or the one that leaves the whistle in the dressing room. |
