CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Neil Trimm for the 2011-12 season.
Trimm, a Westmeath, Ontario native, will embark on his first ECHL season after playing the last three years in the Central Hockey League (CHL). In 2010-11, he led the Laredo Bucks and finished 11th in the CHL in scoring by posting 80 points (22 goals, 58 assists) and 30 penalty minutes in 61 games. During the 2009-10 campaign, despite missing 21 games due to injury, Trimm compiled 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists) in 43 games – good for seventh on the team. Three seasons ago, in 2008-09, he ranked 10th in CHL rookie scoring with 44 points (17 goals, 27 assists) as a member of the New Mexico Scorpions.
"Getting Neil to Cincinnati was a high priority for me this offseason because of his skill level and leadership ability," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "More importantly, though, he makes the people around him better. Anytime you can add a player with his talent and attitude, it makes you a better hockey team. Andrew Cassels and I are very excited to help him continue to grow this year."
Prior to going professional, the 28-year-old forward skated in four seasons at Neumann College where he logged 85 career-games and 175 points (61 goals, 114 assists). Trimm is still the Knights all-time leading scorer, all-time leader in assists, as well as second all-time in goals. During his time with the Knights, he earned All-American accolades and was a two-time ECAC West All-Star. He had his number “9” retired by Neumann College following his senior season in 2007-08.
The countdown to the 2011-12 season is officially underway! Secure your seats for Saturday, November 5 when the Cyclones welcome the Chicago Express to U.S. Bank Arena for the first time at 7:30pm.
