| The NHL camps open this weekend after the close of their rookie camps and it is always interesting to follow the roster moves on the web sites and local papers for the Cyclone affiliates to try and guess which players from both rookie and full camps might find their way down to the Cyclones. For example Florida has 57 players in camp including five goalies. With Clemonson and Theodore looking to stick and Markstrom being the #1 at San Antonio, that leaves the AHL backup battle between Brian Foster and Tyler Plante. The AHL camps open soon and will be filled with the those sent down by the NHL full and rookie camps as well as those under an AHL contract and invitees from other sources. Some of those in the AHL camps will then be signed to two way contracts and sent here. Others who are cut from the San Antonio and Milwaukee camps as well as all the other AHL camps will be free agents that might find their way here also. My guess is that at least two thirds of the opening night Cyclone roster haven't yet been signed or assigned here. Hard to believe that opening night is LESS THAN ONE MONTH away!!!!!! |
