I realize this is AA hockey, but there seems to be a huge turnover in players this year. Is that normal or is this year a little more than average?
Its clear that last year didnt work with the players we had and there a lot of arguments as to why, the Coach, the system, the players for the system, etc.
I guess this is a result of the Coach bringing in his own crew that he believes will work best for him. |

You hit the nail on the head.
It's not a given but it's typical at this level that when there's a coaching change it's often associated with a whole new group of players. The only exception is when the assistant takes over like in South Carolina. In those cases there tends to be a bit more continuity.
Basically, Skalde has no excuses, other than injuries, for mediocrity this season. He has brought in guys that he thinks can play his style of hockey; if this season plays out like last one, one has to ask if he can be successful in the ECHL. |

You got it.
Look at what Stork did with the Greenville Cyclones... Brought in a bunch of guys that had played for him before. In fact he's still doing it, and having success.
As noted, Skalde had a built-in excuse last year (which I don't buy because player turnover is a fact of life in AA, you MUST succeed with what you have, which Weber excelled at) that he doesn't have this year. Lets face it... Brian Foster is the only reason that team even managed to back into the playoffs.

| You have to wonder a bit who didn't want who. Skalde I am sure didn't want some of the players back but my guess is some of them didn't want to come back and play for him and/or his system. |

| Well in 08-09 to start the season we only had 7 returns from the 08 cup team and over the course of the season only 10 came back with Martin, McElroy and Miller so we know of 5-7 possible returnees in Aubin, Pierce, Eves, Liambas, O'Hanley, Suter and possibly Pickard and Foster. It happens all the time but this year did seem like almost nobody came back. |
