TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Walleye (6-8-0-0) scored five times in the final two periods to defeat the Cincinnati Cyclones (4-6-0-2) by a 6-3 final in front of 3,859 at Huntington Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Walleye grabbed the early 1-0 lead just 2:28 into the opening period when Evan Rankin batted home his team-leading ninth goal of the season past Cyclones goalie Chet Pickard (L, 28 saves, 3-5-0-0). Cincinnati answered almost immediately though, at 3:05, as Rob Slaney tallied for the second time in three games to knot the score at one after 20 minutes of play.

Anthony Luciani erased a five-game goal scoring drought at 4:04 of the second period to put Cincinnati up 2-1 when he wristed a shot past Toledo net minder Carter Hutton (W, 33 saves, 5-5-0-0). Unfortunately, the Walleye responded with three unanswered goals in the middle frame to regain a 4-2 cushion after two periods. Simon Danis-Pepin, Bryan Rufenach, and Adam Estoclet each scored goals just six minutes apart, two of which coming in the final 1:09 of the frame.

Right out of the gate in the third period, Evan Rankin stole a loose puck and lit the lamp for the second time in the tilt at the 0:37 mark to push Toledo ahead 5-2. Cincinnati pulled within a pair of goals when Rob Slaney deflected in his second lamp-lighter of the weekend at the 16:20 mark. However, with only 39 seconds left in regulation, Joey Martin hit the empty net to seal the 6-3 triumph for the Walleye.

The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows:

First Star: Adam Estoclet (1 goal, 3 assists for Toledo)
Second Star: Evan Rankin (2 goals for Toledo)
Third Star: Harrison Reed (3 assists for Toledo)

The Cyclones will be back on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena this Wednesday night, November 23, when they play host to the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm. It will be the first Wet Wednesday of the season, with $1 PBR and Miller High Life flowing all night long. In addition, the game will serve as the Cyclones “Movember” Mustache Party where fans can show off their mustaches in support of men’s health. Secure your seats now by calling 513.421.PUCK or log on to CyclonesHockey.com. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the season on Facebook and Twitter (@CincyCyclones).

Am I missing something. Don't we have two legit goalies on the roster. So
why do we use the same man FOUR straight games and three in three days !!
Look at the above minutes over the last 5 days and more importantly the
last three days. No wonder players want out.

So far this year through 12 games the Clones have had 31 players on the ice. As of today the Clones have 18 players healthy with Eves on IR. Out of those 18 players, 11 are under contract with FLA/SA or NSH/MIL. This year the Clones had the largest number of affiliated players at 17 beating the 07-08 team by around 3 or 4 players. That is why players like Pierce and Trimm left because affiliated players get "first dibs" because they have leverage from above. By the end of December it is going to get real thin I fear. Two things to think about, 1 affiliated team next year because two are hurting us more then anything, and Skalde needs to find an ECHL caliber goaltender......calling across the pond to Ryan Nie!!(Wishful thinking)
