ELMIRA, New York – Louis Caporusso’s second period goal proved to be the game-winner as the Elmira Jackals (22-11-0-0) defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (14-11-0-3) by a 4-1 score in front of 3,474 at First Arena on Saturday night.

The Jackals grabbed a 1-0 lead just 3:34 into the opening period when Dustin Gazley gathered a loose puck at the top of the right circle and wrested a shot past Cyclones net minder Brad Fogal (L, 29 saves, 1-2-0). But the Cyclones answered back before the break as Chris Cahill extended his goal-scoring streak to four games by sending a low wrist shot through the legs of Jackals goalie Timo Pielmeier (W, 23 saves, 7-5-0) to knot the score after 20 minutes.

Elmira found the lone goal in the middle stanza as rookie Louis Caporusso potted his ninth goal of the season at the 15:03 mark to push his team ahead 2-1 heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, the Jackals utilized a pair of power plays to extend their lead; Matt Campanale buried his fourth goal of the season with the man advantage at 9:59, making it 3-1 Jackals. Then, just a few seconds after a Jackals power play expired, Mike Rajda blasted a one-timer into the net for a 4-1 cushion. Elmira held on to win by the same score.

The Cyclones Radio Network Three Stars of the Game are as follows:

First Star: Dustin Gazley (1 goal, 2 assists for Elmira)
Second Star: Timo Pielmeier (23 saves for Elmira)
Third Star: Matt Campanale (1 goal, 1 assist for Elmira)
