Brian O'Hanley has not played a game for Worcester since Jan 2 being a healthy scratch. While a lot of people may think "if they do not need him anymore send him back," that may not be whats happening, it could be, but a player like O'Hanley deserves this shot and in my opinion the Worcester coach is stretching out the 25 game Professional Try Out as long as he can. Former Cyclone Justin Johnson last season played the entire season with the Manchester Monarchs on two PTO's while having ECHL rights with hometown Alaska. Unless some Worcester Sharks get healthy they can sign O'Hanley to a second PTO for another 25 games. Only when O'H gets 50 games played with Worcester is when a decision has to be made to sign him to an AHL Standard Contract or send him back. IMO we do not see OH back until the end of the year at best....I hope not but are wants and needs are not Worcester's concern.
Daniel Koger on the other hand could be back quicker then O'Hanley as another Boston/Providence product was called back up today. Barring injuries Koger could have a chance to be back by the end of the month because Providence on the active roster has 15 forwards, again who is injured is a question mark but Koger will probably be back quicker and sooner then OH. |
