Conacher currently ranks 3rd in the AHL in scoring; 2nd in goals scored.
For the second season in a row, an ex Cyclone has been at the top of the AHL scoring leaderboard. David Desharnais led the AHL in scoring at the time of his call up to Montreal last season.
Conacher recently signed a two-way deal with the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning. He received a $185,000 signing bonus and his NHL salary would be $817,500 this season and $925,000 next season if he is recalled. His AHL pay is now $70,000 per year.

Every team in the NHL has $200k or more dispensed to players that they know are unlikely to ever play a game for them, and every team does it for different reasons.
