Cyclones Close Road Trip with 5-1 Loss in Greenville
GREENVILLE, South Carolina – On the strength of a Brandon Wong hat trick and 46 saves from Jason Missiaen, the Greenville Road Warriors (40-22-2-3) defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (30-26-2-7) by a 5-1 final score in front of 2,545 at the BI-LO Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Road Warriors benefited from an early power play as Bretton Cameron slammed in a rebound at the 5:11 mark to give the home team a 1-0 lead. And despite collecting 17 shots in the opening period, the Cyclones trailed by a goal at the first intermission.
Midway through the second period, Brandon Wong worked his way to the Cincinnati slot and sniped a shot over Chet Pickard (L, 40 saves, 13-12-0-2) at 11:47 to give the Road Warriors a 2-0 cushion. However, Cincinnati would respond during a delayed penalty as Anthony Luciani collected a rebound left by Greenville goalie Jason Missiaen (W, 46 saves, 22-13-0-2) and stashed his 19th goal of the year; his tally at 13:50 cut the Cyclones deficit to 2-1 after 40 minutes.
In the third period, the Road Warriors began to run away with the game as Chris McKelvie and Brandon Wong lit the lamp at 4:26 and 7:06 respectively, giving Greenville a commanding 4-1 lead. Then, during a Cyclones power play late in the game, they opted to pull the goalie for a two-man advantage but Wong capitalized again; he received a pass from Cameron at center ice and deposited his third goal of the night in shorthanded fashion at 15:04, making it a 5-1 game. Greenville went on to win by the same score.
The Cyclones Radio Network Stars of the Game are as follows:
First Star: Brandon Wong (3 goals, 1 assist for Greenville) Second Star: Jason Missiaen (Winning goaltender, 46 saves) Third Star: Sean Berkstresser (2 assists for Greenville)

| Cyclones, Reading and Chicago now all tied in points for 8th. Florida in 7th by 6 points and have all of their remaining six games at home so they seem to be in solid position. Reading has six games left also but four of them are against Trenton which is a big plus for them Clones and Chicago have seven games left including three against each other and could knock each other out. Wed game a big big one |

It's crunch time.
If I were coach, then Foster would be my goalie and Tabisz would be charting faceoffs. The offense needs to find itself yesterday.
The Chicago games will be like playoff games and the Clones can only hope that Trenton can put forth the type of effort against Reading which they did against Chicago this weekend-the Titans claimed 3 out a possible 4 points vs. the Express.
This Conference really doesn't have a standout team. Florida-which is only 6 points ahead of the Cyclones has the best goals differential (net of SO) of +34. The Cyclones have proved that they can play with the Everblades-at least on home ice.
Two of the #15 seeds knocked out a #2 seeds in the first round of the NCAA tourney. The seedings in the Eastern Conference don't look to have much more relevance than the 2/15s did at the NCAA.
Get in and the Clones can win. But they've got to get in. |

| The team is still reeling from blowing that 5-2 lead in the 3rd period at K'zoo. That had to shake the confidence a little bit and they're not great of a road team. It is going to be tough to get in at this point. The 3 against Chicago are basically playoff games, and the worst possible thing would be 3 point games. We need to take 2 of 3 against the Express to be in decent shape. |
