Could be a great match w/ the Cyclones. Have them play at USB with half the home games when we are on the road and the other half on days we play as a double-header. We would have instant fill-ins on call ups and give a third goalie the chance to play multiple games at the junior level. |

According to UrbanDictionary,"Stache" is simply a shortened version of mustache. Should be pretty easy to logo--maybe a flying puck with a handlebar mustache. Or since it's a Cincinnati team, a mustached flying pig. Who knows? |

ummm, you obviously have no idea how junior hockey works nor of how lousy this hockey is going to be. You'd have better luck with the top men's league... |

Your right I haven't seen junior hockey before but I'm not talking a longterm player, just one for maybe a few games while someone is called up. Can't be any worse than the night Wildman's son was the EBUG ! Still think a double header with them and us would be fun. |

ok, here's why what you propose is highly improbable/immpractical.
Starting with the key word "juniors" - the players in these leagues are as young as 14/15, no older than 20 (can't start a season if 21). So that really limits who from the Clones would be young enough to send down; conversely, players in this league would be too young and inexperienced to contribute anything.
Secondly, all but 3 of the roughly 75 junior leagues in North America are considered amateur leagues for NCAA purposes - only the top three Major Junior leagues in Canada pay players a stipend and are considered professional, so any player opting to play WHL/OHL/QMJHL forfeit their ability to play NCAA DI hockey. The primary goal for all these junior leagues (especially in the US) is develop players to move on to play NCAA hockey and that's why kids play there. So the second they sign a contract to be an EBUG or fill slots on the bench for a pro team, they give up any chance of NCAA varsity hockey. They can still play club hockey, just not a school sponsored varsity team.
This new league is AAU sanctioned, and while AAU has been around for a long while, their sanctioning hockey leagues is relatively new - usually the result of folk getting frustrated with USA Hockey. With this particular league, the powers to be behind it have had their share of problems issues when they ran USA Hockey leagues - folding midseason, host/billit issues, and a long list of others - that is why they are now trying the AAU route.
I'm not adverse at all to the Cyclones helping out/supporting the local hockey community - fans too. But I'd strongly suggest that support be given to the Steam organization long before supporting this MWJHL. The Steam do it right, move kids on, and will be at a talent level many times higher than what the MWJHL will be. Hopefully they proveme wrong and put together a good program for several years and prove themselves, but their track record doesn't support that happening. |

Thanks for the info. I had no idea the "junior" part was that young. I was thinking more college age level. Still think a double-header could be a possible extra draw for the Clones while giving the players exposure to the ECHL level. |
