He's out/suspended for four games per the ECHL, and has to pay a fine. We'll see him back in the lineup after November 2nd. |
Hockey is life. All the rest is just small stuff.

| Not surprising at all. That hit was totally unnecessary. I like physical hockey and a good scrap but within the context of the game. The Trenton player didn't even have the puck. I also think that Conboy jumped Aubin as payback for the hit Liamas had ealier. You could argue that Liambas' hit caused Aubin to get jumped and Pelech to be ejected. I think Pelech did exactly what he should by jumping in to help Aubin and probably earned some respect from his teammates. |

Let me start by saying I am not a Liambas fan. I don't like the way he plays the game and I don't like his reputation. At all.
That being said Mike Liambas should have been the number one star for the Cyclones. His role was to get Trenton off their game. Trenton was 4-0 at the time with a talented offense and an above average defense. After the hit (which in no way was legal), Conboy started chirping (Liambas asked him to go at the opening face off and he declined) and Trenton lost it for about a period. Conboy jumped Aubin and got the aggressor penalty and was booted; Pelech was the third man in; he gets booted and.... Aubin never left the ice!
While Trenton had momentarily lost their mind we scored enough so they couldn't come back.
I would much rather see an overpowering offense and a stifling defense to win games but Skalde chose to go the 'bus route. And he got the win. Not my cup of tea but a win is a win....right?

| 4 days for Liambus and NONE for Conboy after he jumped Aubin and continued to throw punches with the linesmen on him? Would have thought they would have handed down something for him too. |

I don't speak for the league but Aubin could have defended himself and they both would have been gone for 5. With Pelech coming in I imagine the officials saw that as a wash.
Liambas' hit was on an unsuspecting (defenseless?) player. Given Liambas' reputation 4 games seems to be about par for the course.
I believe this is Conboy's first foray into the ECHL. He was a Montreal draft pick who spent a few years in Hamilton. He also has a reputation for cheap shots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI-sYE1DsMs
I don't remember hearing anything good or bad from Hamilton about him.
Skalde is going to have to have a new gameplan in Elmira. They are 4-0 and also a pretty talented team. With no Liambas to stir things up we might just have to play hockey. |

http://www.cycloneshockey.com/news/778/o-hanley-returns-liambas-dealt-to-orlando/
CINCINNATI , Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman Brian O’Hanley has been reassigned to the club by the San Antonio Rampage. To make room on the roster, the Cyclones have traded defenseman Mike Liambas to the Orlando Solar Bears.
O’Hanley returns to Cincinnati after spending last weekend with the San Antonio Rampage, recording a minus-1 rating in two games. Prior to being recalled to the AHL, O’Hanley played in three games for the Cyclones this season, tallying two goals and two assists. For his efforts, O’Hanley was named the runner-up for the ECHL Player of the Week last week and remains tied for second on the team in points (4). The Quincy, Massachusetts, native played in 44 AHL games last season between the Syracuse Crunch, Peoria Rivermen and Worchester Sharks, totaling four goals and four assists. O’Hanley sits just 11 points shy of 100 for his professional career.
Liambas, a Woodbridge, Ontario native, is in his third professional season after playing his amateur hockey in the OHL and CIS (Canadian NCAA). He played in 55 games for the Cyclones since being signed in March of 2011, amassing 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) and 262 penalty minutes in that span. He ranks fifth on the club’s All-Time Penalty Minute List.
O’Hanley is expected to be in the lineup when the Cyclones return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena TOMORROW as they welcome in the Kalamazoo Wings for the first time this season. It will be the first “Wet Wednesday” of the year as well, with $1 PBR and Miller High Life flowing all night long. In addition, there will be a Halloween Costume Contest on the ice during intermissions, with cash prizes going to the winners! Call 513.421.PUCK (7825) to reserve your seats. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the season on Facebook and Twitter (@CincyCyclones). |

Ditto. We play them only once this year--in the let week of the season there.
Got to feel for Brian though. Class act and just seems to be constantly on the edge of ECHL/AHL. Maybe the end of the lockout will end up with him finding a full time AHL job. Bad for the Clobnes but good for him. He has put in his time |

| With Penner, Sawyer and Liambas all gone, it looks like we'll be seeing the Cyclones get pushed around again this year. You don't need an enforcer, but it's nice to have somebody to keep the other team honest. |

| We now have 3 future considerations between him and Sisca. So basically we need to hope the lockout ends so the AHL guys get called up and we can take players from Orlando. Otherwise we've given them away for nothing. Not surprisingly, Sisca has been a point machine down there. |

Likely planning for the end of the lockout, and back to typical ECHL style play where it's a good idea to have a fist thrower on the bench.
Just a guess, but it doesn't make much sense otherwise. |
