http://www.cycloneshockey.com/news/778/o-hanley-returns-liambas-dealt-to-orlando/

CINCINNATI , Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman Brian O’Hanley has been reassigned to the club by the San Antonio Rampage. To make room on the roster, the Cyclones have traded defenseman Mike Liambas to the Orlando Solar Bears.

O’Hanley returns to Cincinnati after spending last weekend with the San Antonio Rampage, recording a minus-1 rating in two games. Prior to being recalled to the AHL, O’Hanley played in three games for the Cyclones this season, tallying two goals and two assists. For his efforts, O’Hanley was named the runner-up for the ECHL Player of the Week last week and remains tied for second on the team in points (4). The Quincy, Massachusetts, native played in 44 AHL games last season between the Syracuse Crunch, Peoria Rivermen and Worchester Sharks, totaling four goals and four assists. O’Hanley sits just 11 points shy of 100 for his professional career.

Liambas, a Woodbridge, Ontario native, is in his third professional season after playing his amateur hockey in the OHL and CIS (Canadian NCAA). He played in 55 games for the Cyclones since being signed in March of 2011, amassing 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) and 262 penalty minutes in that span. He ranks fifth on the club’s All-Time Penalty Minute List.

O’Hanley is expected to be in the lineup when the Cyclones return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena TOMORROW as they welcome in the Kalamazoo Wings for the first time this season. It will be the first “Wet Wednesday” of the year as well, with $1 PBR and Miller High Life flowing all night long. In addition, there will be a Halloween Costume Contest on the ice during intermissions, with cash prizes going to the winners! Call 513.421.PUCK (7825) to reserve your seats. Fans can also get the latest team updates throughout the season on Facebook and Twitter (@CincyCyclones).

I would be lying if I'm not happy to see him go, but another part
makes me think about what could have been. We all go back to the
"Weber days" but Mike could have turned to a solid defenseman with
better coaching. Last year he showed some strong promise before turning
to his usual headhunting late in the season. I doubt Weber would have
put up with these hits and Liambas would have shaped up or hit the bench
and later the road. Good luck Mike and turn to hockey and leave the cheap
shots for someone else.

At the last home game, the men's room behind Section 120 was dirty. If Weber had been here that never would have happened.

If you walk on water you can do all things--water into wine and Liambis into a solid defensemen.

Two players- Justin Johnson and Benson. Both would only be thought of
as fighters until Weber gave them a chance to play hockey for real. Not
saying Liambas would be heading to the NHL but a solid ECHL or 2nd line
AHL defenseman could have been a possibility without the cheap hits. ECHL
probably won't put up w/ too many of his hits before he ends up in the CHL.

He would never have been on a Weber coached team to begin with. Good riddance, now I can start coming to more games again...

Bags I think you miss the point some of us have tried to make. I for one had no problems with having an enforcer and Liambas was willing to protect and be a fighter. My problem--and that of many fans I believe- was that he was also a cheap shot artist going back to when he was kicked out of his junior league for an incident. Benson and Johnson would never make some of the cheap shots we have seen Liambas make. They would always follow "the code" when it came to fights. Liambas did not and while Skalde tried to get him to see the difference and play accordingly, his conduct that resulted in the most recent suspension was probably the last straw.

I seriousl doubt Liambus' recent suspension had anything to do with it. It had to do with roster numbers, the 'Clones get 23 players. They had 23 on the roster before the return on of O'Hanley; someone had to go. Obviously none of the affiliated guys are going anywhere, so that leaves Aubin, Eves, Pelech, Reed, Bouchard, Liambas, Embach and Edwards. Liambas is the weakest link on that list.

I know it sounded like Weber "walks on water" to me, but what I meant
was for quite a few games last year Liambas was a model player then went
back to his old ways. Remember when veteran players stopped playing by
Weber's rules, they found their time reduced if not stopped. I didn't
see that w/ Skalde. Instead all I saw was a player drawing goons out
looking for a shot at him or our better players. A good enforcer does not
start the action, he finishes it. This doesn't mean he always wins, but
the threat usually is all that is needed. Aubin got jumped as much for
Liambas's "goon" type hit so their "enforcer" had to retaliate. No hit
and probably no retaliation would have been needed.
By the way DBC, I agree 100% with your statement. Maybe Skalde was trying
to change him but his past should have had him on a very short leash for
those type hits. He was given way too many chances in my book.
