CINCINNATI , Ohio – Rookie Cam Reid lit the lamp with just 21 seconds gone in overtime to lift the Cincinnati Cyclones (6-0-2-0) to a 2-1 win over the Wheeling Nailers (3-4-1-1) in front of 5,072 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. The win extended Cincinnati’s winning streak to three games.
After a scoreless first period, Cincinnati forward Jonathan Hazen finally broke the stalemate 14:50 into the middle frame with a breakaway goal. Wheeling turned the puck over at their blue line and Hazen was able to get a step on his defender and beat goaltender Patrick Killeen (OTL, 26 saves, 3-2-0-1) one on one with a wrist shot. The Cincinnati lead would be short lived, however, as a bouncing puck found Nailers forward Scott Zurevinski who was able to slip it past Brian Foster (W, 30 saves, 5-0-2-0), tying the game at 1-1. The score would remain knotted at a goal for each team heading to the second intermission.
The third period was similar to the first, where both teams found scoring chances but were unable to strike. So for the fourth time this season, Cincinnati decided its fate in overtime. Just 21 seconds in, Cam Reid won the face-off and sniped home his first professional game-winning goal, beating Killeen over the shoulder to give the Cyclones a 2-1 victory.
Cincinnati remains the only team in the ECHL to not have lost a game in regulation and owns the best winning percentage in the league (.875).
The Cyclones Radio Network Stars of the Game are as follows:
First Star: Cam Reid (Game-winning goal, 1 assist for Cincinnati) Second Star: Brian Foster (30 saves, winning goaltender) Third Star: Jonathan Hazen (1 goal for Cincinnati)
After a week of practice, the Cyclones will embark on a two-game road trip against the Greenville Road Warriors next weekend. The first of the two-game set is Friday night at 7:00pm. Fans can hear all the action on the Cyclones Radio Network (CyclonesHockey.com/America One) beginning at 6:40pm.
The Cyclones will return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena on Tuesday, November 13 as they host the South Carolina Stingrays on Education in Hockey Day! |
...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones! |

| Last nights game was by far proof that the ECHL is going to be a tough this year! Kileen and Foster both would have probably been AHL goalies this year if not for the lock out. The pace was more quick and gritty then goals a plenty like the last few years. I honestly think you will not see a lot of 5 or 6 goal games this year because of the quality of players in the league this year, or for the tenure of the lockout. The way the Cyclones are playing right now, I would not be upset if the lockout goes on for the whole year!!!!! However if your the players obviously they will have a different take as they should! Yesterday was the first time I was able to see the team and its really good right now IMO always ways to improve but its a good team right now! |

| A lot to be excited about with this team starting with Foster. Seems like Chuck realizes he wont have him once the lock out gets settled and he wants to ride him as much as he can now. The only thing that makes me a bit nervous is that seven of the eight games have been decided by one goal and four of them have been tied at the end of regulation. Not a team that will scare you but one you know will put in 60 minutes. |

| I'm pleased thus far. Foster has been outstanding and some of the new guys are really contributing. Hotham is a workhorse and I really like the intensity Pelech is showing. With five days off from games, I would assume Foster will get the call Friday and Saturday. |

Don't you mean Skalde and not Chuck ! I know it's easy to mix up because we now are playing like a Weber Team and the hockey is solid. |
