The Cyclone continue to win despite being 22nd in the league on the power play with a robust 11.1% conversion. Obviously, this needs to change soon. It appears that the team has a hard time gaining the offensive zone to set up. They seem to get stymied in the neutral zone with great regularity and cough up the puck. Once they're in the zone, they get some chances, but have a hard time stretching the PK players to create space. They have some players on the point with nice shots that can lead to deflections or rebounds, but it seems like they could work their offense a little better. If they could get the PP to be more productive to complement their great PK, the Cyclone could be in really good shape as the season progresses. Please share any other thoughts or observations.
This has seemed to a major weakness for the Cyclones ever since Skalde took over. It seems when Weber was here the Cyclones scored at will on the power play especially in 2007-08 season. I plan on being at the game tomorrow, and will look closely at this situation.
Maybe more passing till 5 seconds left in the PP then shooting instead of the standard 10 seconds left. Love that opportunity for them to pick one off as they always do!
You just gotta throw the puck at the net, eventually it will go in.
