Milwaukee traded them as well as another guy in the A for their old captain. Zoltan was already called up, presumably to be shipped off to Peoria or Evansville. Im guessing the same will happen with ABM.

I wish Z had been given more of a shot to play here, but clearly Skalde has some kind of loyalty to Brian Foster, which personally I think is going to cost the 'Clones at some point. Foster has yet to prove he can be the type of goalie who can steal a game when the team is off their game. His successes have come mostly in games in which the team has played stellar defense in front of him.

All the best to you Z.

And then there was one. It's being reported that Brian Foster has been recalled to San Antonio.

Elvis--couldnt disagree more that Zoltan is a better bet than Brian in goal. There is no contest in basics or skill level. Zoltan might be more acrobatic but don't confuse acrobatics in goal with skill. Foster is always square to the puck, controls rebounds, and anticipates. Zoltan often leaves holes and uses his acrobatics to recover. the reason you dont see Brian "flying around" like Zoltan is that he is already where he should be.

Im perfectly fine with Houser and Foster (though I think Houser should be the #1). Hopefully he proves that while Foster is up in SA. At least there are a couple days off.

My guess is that Markstrom will be in Florida for a while if not permanently meaning Brian will be in SA for a while. The Panthers have lost five in a row and lead the NHL in goals allowed. Both starting goaltenders Jose Theodore and Scott Clemensen have been struggling.

Markstrom has long been projected as the Panthers' future starting goaltender and this is a chance to see what he can do over a period of time. He is expected to start Thursday night in Philadelphia against the Flyers. Neither of the other two will accept going to SA. Skalde has been trying to find a place for Zoltan for a few weeks and the day he leaves, Brian gets called up! Skalde had predicted this in a kidding way but his nightmare now comes true. We now have to rely on a 20 year old with just a few games of pro experience.

My questioning of Foster has nothing to do with acrobatics verses position. It has to do with the fact that since 10-11, I have seen Foster steal a game the 'Clones should have lost. Have I seen Houser or Z do it? It's a fair question ans the answer is probably not, but they haven't really been given a chance either. I'm not saying Foster is a sieve or anything of the sort. He's serviceable and consistent but make no mistake, theirs a reason he started his career in the CHL; he was the weakest of FLA's young goalies. His play when given the chance in 10-11, was enough to make Marc Cheverie expendable. However, I have yet to see him return to that same form. His, numbers this year have been solid, but so has the defense in front of him. Over the recent win streak, the team was stellar defensively. Yet, the few times the D did break down the puck more often than not ended up in the back of the net. For example, in Saturday night's 5-2 win, Trenton had maybe 4 or 5 quality scoring chances in the game, 2 of which ended up in the back of the net. Had Scott Wedgewood not had a 1 minute, 38 second melt down, that game could have looked a lot different. When the team plays well, Foster does enough to win, but when they're off, sorry, but I haven't seen him turn it on like he did in 10-11 to steal a game here and there. Look at Friday night's game. The Cyclones dominated Trenton in every way but Scott Wedgewood was outstanding, stopping 32 of 33 (The Cyclones probably had 10 to 15, or more, quality scoring chances) and had it not been for a major blunder by the Titans, there's a great chance they get the game to OT. That was a game which the 'Clones should have put 6 or 7 goals on the board but the play of Trenton's goalie gave them a chance to steal the game. It was the kind of game the Cyclones needed out of Foster on Monday but didn't get. Would Houser or Z been better? Who knows, but that's why we have these forums.

It isn't a coincidence that Hetenyi was traded shortly after spending a week in training camp with the big club.

It appears ABM won the record-tying shootout last night for Evansville. 42 total shooters.

would love to see a video of the shootout if anyone finds a link.

I also wish the NHL would go to five shooters in SO. Hate it with just 3

Wow! I'm assuming they must go through their entire roster except the goalies before they can repeat a shooter?

The other astonishing statistic is the futility of the shooters: only 5 goals were scored out of 42 shots.

Yep, unless one team has fewer active players than the other. In that case the team with more players may skip someone and go back to a previous shooter once the other team runs out.
