With the point earned in the shootout loss to Trenton tonight, the Cyclones have officially qualified for the playoffs. They can do no worse than finishing one point ahead of Kalamazoo, currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Cyclones also fall into a tie for first place in the Conference with their shootout loss combined with Reading's win tonight.

Tough stretch coming up with the next four games on the road against the other three teams in the top four (Reading, Gwinett , and Florida (2)). Luckily only need one point or a Toledo loss to win the division

The division should come at some point, I'd really like to see them overcome Reading and win the Conference and take the #1 seed.

Getting the #1 seed would be great, but once the division is wrapped up they are guaranteed a top 3 spot which isn't too bad. Until some of the guys who were called up start filtering back down it is going to be tough to score and beat out Reading.

By virtue of Toledo's 3-2 loss vs. Wheeling today, the Cyclones have clinched the North Division title!

I saw that too. Looks like the Cyclones will likely do no worse than a number two seed, seeing that Gwinnett has a lot of ground to make up to catch us. They're currently five points behind us with only four games left to play, while we have six left on the schedule.

If my math is correct, they can wrap up the number two seed with a win in regulation over Gwinnett Wednesday.

...And on the eighth day, GOD created the Cyclones!

Florida and Gwinnett both have maximum points of 91, Greenville has a maximum of 88 points, and South Carolina has a maximum of 86 points. All those teams are in contention for the South Division Title.

Assuming we lose all tiebreakers, we clinch at least a 2 seed if:

South Carolina wins the south
We have already clinched the 2 seed over South Carolina

Greenville wins the south
Cincinnati gains a point or Greenville loses a point

Gwinnett/Florida wins the south
Cincinnati gains 4 points or Gwinnett/Florida loses 4 points

Didn't really look at Florida, but yeah it looks like Shorty Rock's scenario's are all correct. Essentially if they can get four points in their final six games, they can do no worse than #2 seed.

With the exception of the four games we play down South, all of the remaining games for the Southern teams are against each other so while it would be nice to get #2 on are own with four out of the remaining 12 points, chances are these teams will in effect knock each other off.

Reading plays their next four games on the road against Ft Wayne, Evansville, and Toledo (2) before finishing at home against Trenton and Elmira. The have been helped tremendously with the signing of Riley Gill in goal so it looks like #1 and #2 will go down to the last weekend

This last month has been amazing for them! Also I think it could end up being a big boost for them to go on the road against several playoff teams late in the season. These are all clubs they very well may be seeing in April.
