| I'm still worried that in this first series, Nick Vitucci has so much more playoff coaching experience than Skalde. I have been a pretty outspoken opponent of Skalde's since he got here but will be happy to eat my words if he takes us DEEP into the playoffs. |

| Vitucci may have PO experience as a head coach, but he has not been successful in those games. He is 9-15 in the playoffs and has made it past the first round once in four tries. In those three years his team was bounced in the first round he has won a combined 2 games. |

so I check the board tonight and find that the Toledo roster score more points than we do, gives up less goals, and Vitucci is a better coach than Skalde who was voted coach of the year today. And this is all on the Cyclones message board!!. Too bad we didn't finish first and Toledo 8th. We really wouldn't have achance then.
Reds lost yesterday. Their season is a bust already |

You do realize that Vitucci has missed the playoffs three times and has only gotten out of the first round twice?? I agree we need a DEEP playoff run, but you can't take away what Skalde and MacDonald have done for this team this year. That is unless you're just another hater...sounds like you are. |

Have your Mom read my post to you again and you will see nothing hateful in it. At the time I wrote it, we had not yet won a playoff game this year. I have sat through a couple of seasons where I questioned a lot of decisions that Skalde was making and I am still skeptical. Nothing wrong with that. And once again, I will say that I will happily eat my words if we go DEEP into the playoffs. |

| King--and your credentials to "question a lot of decisions the Skalde was making"? Have you coached hockey at any level? Have you played? If you are going to criticize at least have the credentials to do so. For example, what criteria would you use to put lines together and how does this differ from what you have seen Skalde do? Don't just say the PP sucks--tell us what you would do to change it. |

DBC - according to your logic, we should close down this blog because none of us have the "credentials" to comment on the team since we have never coached it.
That's not my read on this thing. I love that this site is available so that we can all share our opinions regardless of what they are. Furthermore, I would hope that those on this blog would accept all opinions - positive and negative - and not want this to be just a Cyclones love fest. If the moderator wants to make a rule that only those with shiny, happy thoughts about the team can post then so be it. Until then, I will keep expressing my true opinions, be they positive or negative.
As for Skalde - I wonder how many people were supporting him when he let Eghoetz and Sproat go? How many people were supporting him when he didn't make the playoffs? He is the same man you know. If he can take this very good team deep into the playoffs I will change my opinion of him. If you already have, good for you, but don't jump me for needing more proof that he is a good coach. |

You pretty much proved my point...bringing up Egoetz and Sproat have NOTHING to do with what he's done THIS YEAR! Stuck in the past much?? You use the word "deep" - it's so vague. It's such a cop out. That way, if we lose in the conference finals or, hell, seven games into the conference semis...you can still say "well, it wasn't deep enough for me. he still sucks." You're weak. I'm not trying to say Skalde is god's gift to coaching but I think it's pretty clear you're a little bit stuck in the "was." How about enjoying the ride and give credit where credit is due.
