On May 15, 1973, the Cincinnati Swords won the American Hockey League Calder Cup Trophy with a 5-1 victory over the Nova Scotia Voyageurs in Buffalo’s Memorial Auditorium.
The Swords, who were deprived of playing at Cincinnati Gardens because of another commitment in the arena, won the best-of-seven series, 4-1.
A then AHL record crowd of 15,019 watched the Swords win the championship in only their second year in the league. |

On May 15, 1937, Madeleine Albright, America's first female secretary of state, is born Maria Jana Korbelova in Prague, Czechoslovakia. But nobody cares about this either. |

Nobody caring must be the reason 50,000-watt WLW mentioned it several times in their sports updates on Wednesday after I sent them the note. There were more mentions and discussion about something that happened 40 years ago than the Cyclones playoff games. |
