So, am I correct that unless you are one of the six people in the US that gets "Versus", there is no All-Star game to watch? It says its on CBC, so I thought Center Ice would have it, but they list nothing until All-Star break is over. |

| Just as I thought, no game anywhere. What happened to the NHL? They used to care about the fans. Its no wonder attendance is down. |

what happened to the nhl? greedy players happened, which caused a lockout. then after the lockout espn wanted to renegotiate the tv contract and the nhl said no and espn decided not to buy thr rights to air the nhl. maybe in two years when the versus contract expires, ratings will be up a little and espn will bring the nhl back.
interesting note: if i have my history right, the lock out year was only the second time the stanley cup has not been awarded. the only other time being way back in the day when a flu epidemic caused the finals to be cancelled. |

Yes, thats right about the Stanley Cup. I dont think even WWII stopped it. But the reason I've forgiven the NHL for their strike, and not forgiven MLB for theirs, is that at least the NHL took off the whole season, rather than dragging you along until it really counted and you were pumped for the Reds great season, then, oh sorry we dont want to play anymore. Fine, and for the MLB, I dont want to attend anymore.
MLB screwed the fans, the NHL screwed themselves. |

i just got done listening to barry melrose on espn's cold pizza. he mentioned that the biggest problem for the nhl is there aren't enough people watching on tv. i thought that was pretty funny after raptorov said that he wasn't one of the 6 people in the country that got the "versus" network.
i've noticed espn talking about hockey a lot more lately, i can only hope hockey will be back on espn next season. afterall, if no one really gets the network that airs hockey, its no surprise that viewership is down. |
