just wanted to let you all know there are suposed to be a few very large groups there tonight. When there are big groups like opening night parking can be a major pain so you may want to try to show up a little bit earlier than normal. I know a few people who missed the beginning of the game because they sat in line in the lot for 20 min on opening night.

What happened with Cory last night to get him a misconduct? We were there until the middle of the second period, then my wife got hit with a puck and we had to leave-----5 stitches right under her eyebrow. Bummer.
Once more with the attendance figures-I seriously doubt they had anywhere close to 7,000 people there. If there were, they were the quietest 7,000 I have ever heard. |

Sorry to hear about your wife but think of it this way,what a badge of honor
for a hockey fan. It's like a hockey player losing a tooth to a puck or a stick!
Serious though I wish her the best of luck. Hope she is well enough to make it
Wednesday night. Also,please make sure your either down below the glass or behind
the nets. We can't afford to lose any fans to a second hit!! |

| i was told that he got a 5min major for slashing on a play that should have only warranted a minor. he then complained to the refs and probably said some things that he shouldn't have and got hit with the misconduct. i wasn't there, but i heard that one from someone who saw what happened. |

That's what worries me about "THREE-BLIND-MICE".Are we now going to pay
for it by every referee calling every penalty ? If so,smart hockey is the
way this team will have to play (here that Cory) and retaliations will have
to be put on hold in close games. |

That's okay SS,we'll take our honest attendance counts and build on them.By the
way,since your so in love with Greensboro,maybe you should ask your owners what
city they would rather travel to for road games-Cincinnati or Greensboro?My guess
is they want us back next year playing in Cincinnati. |

I remember a night at the Gardens when a puck hit the wall,then took out three
people before it stopped!The first one was out cold and the third one was bleeding!
I never could understand why hockey is not played with eye shields and mouth bars.
Just remember you owe her something Wednesday night if she can't make it! |

here is an interesting fact about the nutter center...it can be configured to hold from 3000 up to a maximum of 12500 people. the last game i attended in dayton i was told that the arena was set up in the 3000 format. a quick look around and it was eay to see that the building was less than 1/3 full, yet the reported attendance was a little over 2000 people. now the nutter center is a multi-use building so it is my guess that the attendance counts figure in the people that are there to use the running track, at ROTC meetings, spring baseball workouts, and using one of the many other recreational feature in the building.
i have seen the nutter center with 5000 people in it and there were a lot more seats in there than at the last game i attended there.
a far as the cyclones going to greensboro, i don't think its going to happen. i was speaking with someone "close to the team" (yes i realize this is like saying "my roomates, cousin's, friend's, sister's boyfriends uncle....") who has told me that the team has decline offers to sell the team to interested parties that wanted to move the team. it is no secret that the owners of the USBank Aren ado not want to own and operate the team but they do want the team in the building. |

There were definitely 7000 people in attendance. That crowd was ridiculous. Don't judge if you weren't there. The arena holds WELL more than 3,000 people --- look how high the sections go.
As for Cory's misconduct, I'm fairly certain the only thing that he could have done to actually warrant that misconduct is curse at the referee. From my experience running the clock & scoring college hockey, I've seen plenty of players escorted to the box for a 2, 4, 5 minute penalty, yell something back at the ref that includes a choice four-letter word, and suddenly they're serving another 10 minutes or headed right to the showers. |

The other thing that might of happen with Cory is the ref thought it was a "Intent To Injure" which is awarded a game misconduct I think. Either way if anything would of been called it should of been 2 minutes.

I just busted out the rule book and according to rule 61.3 which was the one he was penalized under. A major is assessed when an injury is caused, and a game misconduct must be imposed whenever they assess the major for it.
It's stupid, but yeah. |
