What is considered a sellout at USBA? I thought I heard that a sellout was based on just the lower bowl and with last nights attendance at over 13,000, was it a sellout? |

Yes it is. Official seating per ECHL is lower bowl, 6955 total.
Anything over this is like "Standing Room Only" and considered extra. http://www.echl.com/directory-s12360 |

We list capacity as 6955, which is the lower bowl if I'm not mistaken, so by that number yes, it was a sell out. Clearly, the League isn't going to stop us, or any team from selling more tickets if the arena allows for it.
Guido, or someone with more actual knowledge of the arena operations, can correct me here, but covering the upper bowl for 'Clones games where their typical attendance is in the 2500 to 4500 range could do a couple of things. It might lower the operations costs a little bit since the arena doesn't have to keep as many ushers, security, and other arena staff on hand. I'm sure this isn't a make it break it savings but in minor league sports, every penny that can be saved counts. Leaving the upper bowl open when not needed probably creates some other headaches from security to clean up that the arena would rather not deal with on a regular basis. The biggest reason the 'Clones list the capacity at 6955 is likely creative statistics. The 'Clones are averaging 4363 people per game right now, based on a capacity of 6955 they get to say the team operates at 62.7% of capacity vs 30.2% which is what it would be if the capacity was 14453 (which is what's listed on the USBA wiki page as the hockey capacity). Sure it's still 4363 people game but when it comes to lease agreements, marketing, and advertising, any twist to make things look rosier will be taken. |

Thanks for that info, but I didn't mean the club should not be able to sell above the 6955 number. I just wondered about a sellout number because I hear and read about other ECHL clubs having sellouts, but I can't remember that ever being said for a USBA crowd of over 6955, even if it is officially a ECHL sellout! |

Two different people I know tried to get tickets during the first period and were turned down by the ticket office. I'd say that deems sell out. |
